Hey all... check this:
Mackie newsletter, which you've probably all seen wrote: TT24 CLOSE TO REALITY...REALLY

Imagine the benefits of digital live mixing -- instant recall, integrated dynamics, EQ and effects processing, massive flexibility, and extended control from a Mac or PC. Now imagine all of that control within easy reach of two hands and a modest budget. We've rewritten the rules of digital live mixing with the amazing TT24... Coming really soon, really!
I'm pretty patient, and I stand by the fact that I'll get T2 when I get it, ya know? But... well... one of the things I've held on to is what I've heard about Mackie's marketing strategies (ie. no vapourware). So it's not Mackie's policy to put out publicity until the product's ready....

Or not?

I dunno.

Now that I'm thinking about it, Spike had advance media hype before the product was available, too, if I'm not mistaken.

In better news, the newsletter also revealed Tracktion cleaning up all over the place!!! Good work, Jules!

I doubt you did. He's only remarking on Mackie releasing information before a product comes, since we've been told a number of times that Mackie doesn't do that and that's why they're mum about T2.

:-o Whoops... I see now. Just ignore my last post. I was a little bit confused. :(

Machie have just released the Onyx mixers that come with Tracktion. T1 can't handle external mixer control, so I'd think Machie will be putting pressure on to release T2 ASAP to complement their new firewire mixers.

Just a thought..

As far as I can tell from the review in Sound On Sound, the Onyx isn't an external control surface but a bog-standard mixer with the option of adding a Firewire card to provide the channel direct outs digitally.

errr, in that case T2 will be arriving in its own good time.

didn't the version of Tracktion given away at some US fair have a degree of external control? I certainly remember Jules mentioning getting a baby hui to work with T once so work in this area definitely underway.

not sure what that has to do with anything but thought i'd share... :D

Fairly certain Jules had it working with a baby HUI. In any case, Mackie seems to be making a grab for the control surface market, so it pretty much goes without saying that control surface support will be a part of T2. And since Raw Material still isn't owned by Mackie (last I heard), it will probably include support for devices beyond the Mackie range.
