I guess if you're counting every single PC out there. But the audio community is a very tech savvy industry and most people stay up to date on the latest and greatest technology available. The need for fast processors, tons of RAM and other optimizations also includes a 64 bit operating system.THE INTRANCER wrote:Well, it's still the most popular and used desktop based operating system on the planet... and that hasn't changed since Windows 10 release over two years ago (which they initially gave away for free)... There's good reasons for that...marooned ufo wrote:I'm surprised Windows 7 is still supported, it's nearly 10 years old.
I would guess that most people in the professional audio industry are using Windows 10, 64 bit, 8-16 GB of RAM and probably an SSD drive. Anything less would be for the bedroom hobbyist that probably isn't really serious enough to commit to the requirements in this day and age.
But whatever works for you, I think Windows XP is still #3 most used operating system, but that stat could have changed. I just wouldn't expect a company to maintain it much longer, just like 32 bit and VST2.
