What's Tracktion Got Against Good Plugin Software? I just got to liking this VST for augmenting Subkick, and it won't show up in T7 :o

Is there anything that can be done to get it to accept more of the stuff I use? Why is the software so picky in the 1st place? It also rejected Hornet, and I have one that I like to use a lot~! :x

A lot of plug-in writers don't stick to the standards. Tracktion does. Support will usually try to talk to the authors to see if they can get round it.
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

Sorry if this is obvious to you but are you using 32 bit plugs with 32 bit Tracktion, or 64 bit plugins with 64 bit Tracktion?
If you mean Hornet plugins, well they work fine with Tracktion/Waveform as long as you are using the correct 32 or 64 bit ersion. If you mean daHornet, I haven't used the 64 bit version but the old 32 bit version worked fine in 32 bit T7 IIRC. Of course the 64 bit daHornet will be no go in 32 bit T7.

Yeah, pretty obvious ;)

SK-10 doesn't come up as a 32-bit in other DAW's. I tried getting it to load in 32-bit Tracktion just in case it was some kind of labeling error. Won't load there, either.

Tracktion needs to loosen up. It's not like Hornet is a virus, or something.

Post

Obvious to you and me but not to all ;)

Anyway, I just downloaded SK-10 and loaded the 64 bit version successfully in Waveform 9 (64 bit only) and the 32 bit version successfully in T7 (32bit). I dont have 64bit T7 on a machine to try the 64 bit version of SK-10. So it looks like its something peculiar to your system.

No daHornet isn't a Virus, it's a Wasp emulation ;)

T7 is free now, so you could try it if you wanted.

I already have T7 and W9 didn't you read my post? Having had a quick play with SK-10, I don't think it's something that I would use.

Anyhoo, I am sorry that T7 is being a pain in the arse for you. I was just saying that these plugins were not causing issues for me and presumably others. I'm not a fanboy but Tracktion and now Waveform have not caused me any more issues that other DAW software over the years.

Ok, I misread. You don't have 64-Bit T7. How is SK-10 showing up in your list? Maybe I'm just not seeing it.

Post

It's showing up as SK10.

Are you sure that T7 is scanning the folder you put it in?

Simplest thing is to locate the folder and simply drag the file and drop in the Plugins window on the settings page. It should then be in the list. Any plugins T7 doesn't like for whatever reason are show in red at the bottom of the plugin list.

It's showing all the folders I told it to search. Should be no reason at all why I cannot see it listed.

Post

Did you check to be sure the plugin isn't blacklisted (shown in red at the bottom of the list)
as operandx suggested above? If it fails a scan, it should be listed there, you must remove it
from that list before you can scan it again.

If that doesn't work, I can't recall for certain, but if T7 still uses the common settings file:
You can probably use an earlier version to scan it in, all the way back to T4, which will
pretty much scan anything.

Post

I've never seen anything in "red" at the bottom of any list. If you mean the Plugins folder under settings, I've only been up & down that trying to find certain plugins, so if there was something in red, I'm pretty certain I would've seen it

Performing another scan, we'll see what this does...

Post

Welp. It took copy pasting the .dll for the plugin in as many folders as I could think of, but it went from not showing at all to showing up three times~! :D

You can see just how many plugins Tracktion seems to have issues with, Although this list is a little deceptive, since some of the stuff it says "failed to load" actually is sitting on one of my projects right now~!

Well, thanks for the time, everyone - guess it just takes staying with it 'til it works sometimes.

Post

Glad to hear you are winning! :)

Looking at that list in the Scan Finished dialog, of .dlls that didn't load, many of them are 32 bit only so that would explain why they will not load in 64bit Tracktion7 (eg all the Bootsy ones like BootEQ). I keep my 32 bit plugs seperate from the 64 bit ones and make sure 64bit T7/W9 don't scan the wrong folder. You can use 32bit plugs in a 64bit host using a bridge like jBridge. There are a few 32bit only plugs that I missed since going 64bit but many of them work OK with a bridge.
