I didnt even know patterns could be chained together until I downloaded some of the online presets and seen the breakpoints constantly changing rather than playing the same thing over the length of a 4/4 beat .

I just watched a melda mrhythmizer video and it was only briefly mentioned, and the girl said it was for another more in-depth video, but I've searched on youtube and cant see anything else.

Thanks in advance =)

They can't. But you have two main options to achieve the functionality of chaining.

1) Use your keyboard to select the requested patterns according to the keyboard layout:

- Time Sequences: C1-B3
- Volume Sequences: C4-B6
- Filter Sequences: C7-B9

This is the most flexible option imho and it allows you to control and store the 'chain' by a host sequencer track.

2) You can automate pattern changes by using the modulators 1-4:

- In the mod shape window (tab: normal mode) set the step sequencer to 100% to profit from a step sequencer mode which makes most sense here (2ct).
- Click "Edit" to alter the sequence.
- In the parameters window, choose "Global", select either "Sequence (time)", "Sequence (volume)", "Sequence (filter)" or more than one if you like. Adjust the range mode. Most of the time you may want to use "Interval" and set it from 0 to 35 to be able to select all available patterns.

This method is recommended when you want to store the "chaining" within the preset as it doesn't need midi input.

Thanks Elassi. This gives me a bit more to go on, and im encouraged to see there is a step sequencer cos I want to program long sequences into MRhythmizer.
I was able to follow most of that, but have a few sticking points. Under "global", I see time, volume and filter, but no mention of "sequence" in that list.
Im also unable to adjust the range mode as it's all greyed out, so im not able to select "interval" either, or the 0 - 35 setting

Think Im on the right lines though, even though im not sure what this modulator is modulating, or how this affects the main window where the breakpoints are drawn.

This is what I see under Global.

Elassi, I had a look at another of the online presets to try to reverse engineer it, and I managed to replicate what you described. The automation started working and then FL unexpectedly and rarely crashed. Hopefully its a random thing cos it doesnt crash often............usually not at all.
Anyway, I've got the gist of it now. Many thanks =)

*edit....I just added a preset to the online exchange called "Test Subject" and its working well now =)

If anyone can add any further clarity to the process, by all means please do :)

Elassi ( or anyone else who might know ), how can I ensure the automated pattern starts at the same point each time ?

I've tweaked something and got it just the way I want it, and the sequence is jumping through maybe 8 patterns. It could be simple 3 on one bar then complex 12 on the next etc.....so I stop playback in FL studio, thinking that it will start from the same point, but when I press play again, its different to what I just had looping for 15 minutes. To the best of my knowledge, there is no randomization applied in MRhythmizer.
I want to print the sequences to audio so I can tweak them. I like random, but only if I can control it and set it how I want, so when I stop and play the loop again and theres a tapestop effect or something that wasn't there before, I need to make sure it plays exactly the same each time without any surprise artifacts appearing.

I think it might be a similar issue to starting a sound mid-phase and being able to select retrigger to make sure the attack is the same every single time, but Im not sure how to apply that within MRhythmizer. Any ideas ??

To reset the modulator use the "MIDI RESET - (RE)TRIGGER" option located at the bottom of the modulator popup window. At the moment there's no other way to sync the modulation to bar or song start (while you can sync a single pattern to bars, see "Advanced" tab on the main page of the plugin next to the Filter tab).

In practice: Draw a note in the sequencer where you want the modulator to start (retrigger). While it seems a bit uncomfortable it opens some interesting ways to trigger the modulation besides the usual suspects (=song/bar start and free running). You can even sync it to other modulators.

Btw, judging from your posts you still struggle a bit with understanding the modulation system. It's worth to invest more time in studying it because it's the core and unique killer feature of M's plugins (2ct). You'll be rewarded once you understood it.

Yeah I'd agree with that. In MRhythmizer i've been wondering what that whole section of boxes labelled M1 to M64 is for. I'll have to read the manual more. I pick things up a lot easier from video as Im a kinesthetic learner rather than a bookworm, but there aren't any videos on MRhythmizer that cover more than just the basics. I think Melda should do some more in-depth videos on it and showcase what its capable of.

Have a look at the videos of "Chandlerhimself" (fellow KVR-user you'll find here in the Melda subforum). Afaik he did one if not a few videos on the modulation system which is the same throughout all of the plugins. If this doesn't help I'll see if I can upload a dedicated tut for MRythmizer.

In general the difference of the mod options is as following:

Multiparameter (1-64) = Macros (known from several plugins in the VST world), designed for manual user operation
Modulators (1-4) = "Classic" modulation like LFOs, Envelopes and step sequencers, running by themselves (automated)

In the other thread I started, that I ended up having to lock, Chandlerhimself was first to reply, and offeredf to make a video. I think He said He'd do one on saturday.
Im familiar with the macro concept from synths like Massive, but didnt realise thats what M1 to M64 were.

A really good explanatory video wouldn't help only me, as I'm sure other people have searched in vain to find something more substantial on MRhythmizer who would aslo really benefit from it.
Thanks Elassi =)

It's worth to wait for Chandler and also worth to watch one or another vid in the meantime where he discusses other Melda plugs no matter if you own them or not. There are always some nice ideas included to try out with the plugins you may have - and (afair) almost typically the Melda mod system plays a role in there. :tu:

Cheers Elassi. I'm between albums, so I always use this time to learn and grow. Went through a period of "gear acquisition syndrome" that I'm sure we've all had a bit of, but now its time to learn everything I already own, rather than just continually buy more and more and never get to really know what I have.
I have MMultianalyser, MMultiband Comb, MMultiband Harmoniser, MMultiband saturator, MMultiband Vibrato, MFreeform Equaliser and MRhythmizer so far, so I guess learning the mod system in more detail will help me across all of those. :)

I just finished the video, so it should be released in 2 days. I'll post it here when it comes out.
