Is there a limit on plugins for the Master Channel?

So I have 4 plugins on the master in a T7 project, and I want to upload a standard Limiter [Unlimited by Sonic Anomaly.] After several attempts, I can't get it to add to the list. I tried adding the native compressor/limiter - no go, either. What am I missing?

Also: What's up with the yellow exclamation point just to the right of the divider :?

the limit is 4 plugins on the master. some old inheritance ... many already expressed the desire, that this should be changed, we'll see ...

workaround: select all four plugins and right click/wrap in rack. they will all appear inside a rack on the masterbus which only counts as 1 plugin, so you can add another three then.
inconvenience: when you want to open one of the four wrapped plugins, you have to open the rack first.

Well, that just made my decision for me as to whether or not I buy an upgrade before the Labor Day Weekend sale is over

Cool, thanks for the tip. Would I still be able to adjust each plugin separately?

Also, I have been using the wrap for a Drum Kit program. I noticed that I can't adjust the audio levels on each track - apparently because it's a MIDI file? There's no such problem with an instrument that's exported to .wav.

Wonder also, if there's a solution to the mystery of the "yellow exclamation point."

The yellow triangle is the "Panic" button (that most DAW's have). Sometimes a midi event gets lost, and you wind up with a hung note that doesn't go away. Panic sends all-notes-off to all the MIDI vst's and instruments.

Yeah you can still adjust each plugin, though it seems like a work round. If you use the same chain on your Master you can save the rack/ racks which saves adding individually.

I suppose if you have more than 4, then put the top 3 that you're always tweaking by themselves; and wrap the others into a rack... ?

Just make sure the rack is in the right place in the chain.

How many plugins are people using? If I increase this to 6 would that help?
The main problem is the space for UI gets a bit cramped with more than 4...

Another possible workaround(*) : plugins like Nugen Sigmod and Reastream allow you to route audio completely freely to a second 'receiver' plugin.
Using a setup like that you could use two of the four slots to send to, then receive from, a track set up with multiple mastering plugins on it.

(* Ive not tried it in this specific case, though it definitely works from track to track)

With master processing plugins, it's not a problem since you can just slap them in a rack. At most I'd have a compressor, saturator, and limiter.

The issue is metering plugins, since I don't want to have to pop into a rack. I just want to solo a track and click on the metering plugin on the master. It's not absurd to want to use a stereo visualizer, a loudness meter, VU meter, spectrum analyzer, etc, all on the master. Add in the rack containing your processing and it's a squeeze.

It'd be neat if the metering plugins had their own separate channel or slot. I think FL has something similar with its Selected mixer function or something.

6 would be great!

It would also be great to have a master level meter before the master section.

Thanks for the great work!

You can do this with a vol/pan plugin?

i'd suggest 8 - 10. sometimes "utility"-plugins like meters and such will push the count up. it is not only plugins that work on the sound, that are used there. also for comparisons i have sometimes some more active there.

wouldn't it be possible to have it go into two rows, like in tracks?

So I'd have to have Reaper open in order to route plugins to the Master track on Tracktion?

This is patently absurd and a design flaw. As far as I'm concerned, all versions of Tracktion & Waveform are Beta until this problem is rectified with a better system. I already have Reaper, why would I want to use it to support another platform?
