MDrummer: UI resources

Hello again,
This is perhaps a bit on the fringe. You know that I run Melda plugins in Lunux using the linvst bridge along with wine-staging. This layer inherently exposes the way plugins were made regarding resource usage.
There is a unique case with MDrummer regarding its UI. MDrummer runs fine. But when minimized for a long time it seems that its UI resources are getting released or something similar. This means that when MDrummer is brought back after being minimized for a long time it will suddenly bring the DAW (Bitwig) to a extremely crawling pace, corrupting audio in doing so, as it obviously wrestles with the system in order to be able to show its UI. In many cases MDrummer cannot show its UI back again and the DAW has to be terminated, etc...
Again this is unique to MDrummer. None of the other Melda plugins are doing this, including MPowerSynth. None of the other Windows plugins are doing this (Rob Papen synths, Tone2 synths, Synthmaster, Voxengo, Image Line synths). All of them can be minimized for long period of time and brought back easily.
This behaviour is specific to MDrummer so it's reasonable to conceive of a different approach regarding the UI resources in MDrummer that's not found in other plugins.
This might very well not be shown on Windows/Mac systems, but it's made apparent with the setup I use.
Just saying, as perhaps not adopting the same UI resource management for the upcoming MSoundFactory. It does not seem such a good approach.
Cheers.

I don't think MDrummer has anything to do with that. It is however possible that it requires quite a few resources, so the GPU driver may at one point say "let's remove this process" and since it is Linux, we can quite expect it won't work too well
, so getting it back fails. Try settings the GPU acceleration to compatibility mode, may help.

Hi mevla,
I think it is cool that you are using Melda plugs under Linux. But how can you expect great performance when they simply are not officially supported?
And Vojtech has said no Linux support on the horizon.
Well, it is disappointing, although I somewhat understand. But we will keep pestering him about it, right?

What do you mean by great performance exactly ?Grizzellda wrote:Hi mevla,

All Melda plugins works very well under Linux. The problem described here regards MDrummer only.
Vojtech turns out to be a person who is kind enough to even offer some debugging help regarding running MDrummer on such an "obscure" platform. That speaks a lot about him and the quality of his business.
Cheers.

I fully support the "no native Linux" plugin choice since as far as I can see from using a certain number of Melda plugins, they all run very well. No need to spend time adapting to a very small market.
Cheers.

Thanks ! I'll check out the GPU setting on the OS side. Are there any parameters regarding this on the MDrummer side ?MeldaProduction wrote:I don't think MDrummer has anything to do with that. UPDATE: OK, found them. I will try. Thanks again.
Cheers.

Disabling graphic acceleration might help. No CPU hit, performs as usual.
Cheers.
