I think in this day and age there is nothing wrong with an 18 month upgrade cycle. But I agree that the RX5->6 upgrade was a bit lackluster. Let's see what RX7 brings.

iZoptope now has three lead products. If they follow through with the 18 month cycle and you have all three, you will need to upgrade twice a year if you want to stay current. And if I remember correctly it is usually between 100 and 200 bucks per upgrade. This is one of these cases where I would not mind a subscription model.

husteblume wrote:In my opinion Izotope and its Every-year-new-bundle marketing is kinda annoying.... I rather stay with companies that update their products for free and only bring out an major new version every 3-4 years. Flux, Melodyne, McDsp and even Native Instruments (Nearly every Upgrade of Komplete Ultimate has tons of interesting stuff) are great companies for example. Antares (has no Major changes), Izotope and Waves are not - in my opinion. In only bought the creative bundle and the Music Production Bundle from Izotope and have to say that I will never buy anything else from them. Every year you get the feeling you are having old software that is sh*t compare to their new software...
Ozone 8, Neutron 2, Nectar 2, Trash 2, and VocalSynth 2 were all very major revisions, completely different from their earlier versions. The same will go for RX 7, they are adding important features that either don't exist anywhere else or that you would spend hundreds of dollars for if you were to buy them from other companies. For what I'm personally doing, it's a much bigger version change than Komplete 10 or Komplete 11 were, which I skipped.

Trash 1 was released in 2003, Iris 1 was released in 2013, and I think Nectar 1 was released around 2010.

Oh, certainly. There are iZotope upgrades that I've skipped. Like I said in a different post, I'm still using RX 4 on one system and it beautifully does all the things most people want RX for. RX 7 is adding some important features for mastering, post, and film engineers, as well as some cool Audionamix-type features that some mix and remix engineers will appreciate, but you won't feel like you're missing anything if you don't fall into those categories.

Post

So yeah, I guess you are right. Maybe I am just to stingy To pay 200-400$ a year to get my mastering plugins updated... I think I will do it like Uncle E mentioned... Keep the old Versions and update in a few years... Thanks for the nice discussion Uncle E and mgw38 :)

If I‘m not mistaken, RX7 will be the first iZotope product with multichannel audio support?

Signed up, made a purchase of about ~$100 and didn't received the coupon. Anyone else?
I was already signed up to the newsletter, I bought one of those 1£ deals and payed with virtual cash from previous purchases (so I actually spent no money this time), but I have yet to receive the coupon for Ozone 8 Elements.

Maybe there's a problem with their store software... or maybe they are simply hammered with too many requests :D

Still no email re: Ozone Elements. I've contacted PB, but since it's the weekend I don't expect to hear anything. I'd just hoped to get it sorted so I could test drive Ozone Elements while I have a couple days off. But I'm sure, knowing PB, they'll sort it out Monday. I've always had ace customer service from these chaps.

Has anyone received their iZotope Ozone Elements email from Pluginboutique yet? Any updates?

Yeah, I imagine it's one of those 2 things. I'm sure it'll be sorted out Monday. I'm just impatient and wanted it today! :hihi:

There's a 10-day trial version on iZotope website (link), which can be authorized when you receive the serial number...

I would prefer to start with the software authorized from day one, but a 10 days trial should be enough to test drive it, knowing Plugin Boutique will sort out the issue for sure in a few days...

Well, the instructions of the deal say
2. Purchase any product at Plugin Boutique, including any of our current £1 / $1 deals
so they any should qualify.
AFAIK, PB minimum price on items is £1, I never saw anything on sale for less than that.

I received their newsletter today (16 hours after I signed up). So I said to myself, I'll try to buy something again to see if it's working now. Bought u-he Color Copy and after more than two hours still not Ozone coupon. :(
