That is only the iLok Cloud variant though. iLok Cloud requires an always on Internet connection to use the licenses. McDSP do not allow to store the licenses on the system.

I have heard from Izotope that -

"While the upgrade pricing will not be released until RX 7 is released I can tell you that it will be less expensive to upgrade to RX 6 Advanced for $500 USD and get the free upgrade to RX 7 Advanced rather than upgrading to RX 7 Advanced from RX 5 later on."

which seems to imply that this is a cheap as it gets, but might just mean that this is cheaper than the normal upgrading price in the future, leaving open the possibility of a similar or even lower sales price in the future too.

My thoughts then are that if you were going to upgrade to RX7 Advanced now is the time as any savings in some possible future sale would not be huge and might not eventuate anyway or be over a year away. Similar for Standard. I still would like to know the feature difference between standard and advanced

I can only see a comparison for RX6 - not RX7 Do you have a link?

which does make the current choice between standard or advanced a little difficult given that an upgrade to RX6 is an upgrade RX7

I'm happy as I recently purchased the Music producer bundle (about 3 weeks ago) which has RX6 standard in it, when I inquired, they told me I would get the free upgrade to RX7 standard when it comes out later this month. Super cool of them as I didn't know about RX7 when I made the purchase.

On the plus side:

Upon launching iLok Cloud protected software, the user will be prompted to provide their username and password. That’s it—the iLok protected software is now ready for use without any dongles, or having to use a specific authorized computer.

Does the upgrade to RX7 apply to buying through JRRShop or only through the Izotope website. I did not see "free upgrade to RX7" listed on JRR for the upgrade from RX1-5 standard to RX6 standard

It does, only the date of registration counts...
