Upgrade price is currently 499$ and I think it‘s not worth it for me and my needs.

really difficult to tell at the moment for me as I do get paid work where I use RX - but the exchange rate at the moment is terrible and I am not sure what features will be in RX7 standard - most likely some of the ones in RX6 advanced will trickle into RX7 standard-martinjuenke wrote:That‘s exactly my question...dzilizzi wrote:I'm not a professional. There is a feature comparison on the iZotope site:woggle wrote:really difficult to tell at the moment for me as I do get paid work where I use RX - but the exchange rate at the moment is terrible and I am not sure what features will be in RX7 standard - most likely some of the ones in RX6 advanced will trickle into RX7 standardmartinjuenke wrote:That‘s exactly my question...dzilizzi wrote:I'm not a professional. exactly - we do not - and will not - know the feature comparison between standard and advanced before release other than Izotope telling me that "you can expect it to be very similar to the difference between RX 6 Standard and RX 6 Advanced."mgw38 wrote:There is a feature comparison on the iZotope site:woggle wrote:really difficult to tell at the moment for me as I do get paid work where I use RX - but the exchange rate at the moment is terrible and I am not sure what features will be in RX7 standard - most likely some of the ones in RX6 advanced will trickle into RX7 standardmartinjuenke wrote:That‘s exactly my question...dzilizzi wrote:I'm not a professional. It does not really have anything to do with being a professional or not, it is more if your work requires a particular advanced feature or not. If you are making music, most of the advanced features are probably not worth the upgrade price for you. The Loudness feature might be useful, but that is probably pretty much it.
But we do not know yet if that will also hold for RX7.
I was trying to find information on the new RX7 because I thought I had seen something about it. But can't find it now.woggle wrote:exactly - we do not - and will not - know the feature comparison between standard and advanced before release other than Izotope telling me that "you can expect it to be very similar to the difference between RX 6 Standard and RX 6 Advanced."mgw38 wrote:There is a feature comparison on the iZotope site:woggle wrote:really difficult to tell at the moment for me as I do get paid work where I use RX - but the exchange rate at the moment is terrible and I am not sure what features will be in RX7 standard - most likely some of the ones in RX6 advanced will trickle into RX7 standardmartinjuenke wrote:That‘s exactly my question...dzilizzi wrote:I'm not a professional. And that's why I'll never ever buy their products, no matter how good the sale, unless that policy changes.mgw38 wrote:That is only the iLok Cloud variant though. iLok Cloud requires an always on Internet connection to use the licenses. I've been using iLok cloud since it was introduced with ProTools 2018 this year and I gotta say I like it a lot! It simply works. I just start ProTools, it automatically opens a cloud session in the background and I don't even notice it's there. And the best thing is imho, that there's no way I could lose my license because of a broken/stolen computer or an issue with a hardware iLok. It's also possible to close your cloud session at any time from anywhere. Say you forgot to close your cloud session at home and move to a studio, you can simply login to your iLok account, close the old session and start a new one from there. Simple as that.ErBen wrote:And that's why I'll never ever buy their products, no matter how good the sale, unless that policy changes.mgw38 wrote:That is only the iLok Cloud variant though. iLok Cloud requires an always on Internet connection to use the licenses. What makes me a bit uneasy is that if you lose internet connection just for a couple of minutes, the software stops working until internet connectivity is back up again. Where I live it is not unheard of that the internet goes out for a while.krabbencutter wrote: I've been using iLok cloud since it was introduced with ProTools 2018 this year and I gotta say I like it a lot! And if you know, you're going to be in a place with a bad internet connection, you can still use a hardware iLok for the time being.
My connection stops and starts. It is not noticeable doing normal web surfing, but I also telework with a VPN connection, and I see it disconnect and reconnect, making it difficult to work on anything not on my local machine. If it phones home when you first sign in, not a problem. If it needs to be constantly connected to work? Then I have a problem.mgw38 wrote:What makes me a bit uneasy is that if you lose internet connection just for a couple of minutes, the software stops working until internet connectivity is back up again.
