W9 CPU Consumption vs W8

Hi, all,
I recently upgraded to W9 from W8 and for some reason the CPU usage in W9 is making it unusable.

I noticed it first when I tried to use Biotek 2 or Equator. I can't play more than a few notes at a time on the Seaboard without sending the CPU meter into the yellow or red.

I never noticed this in W8, or else I probably wouldn't have bought the upgrade.

So as I test, I made a new song in W8 using just Equator on one track, nothing else, no audio or MIDI recorded. I can play all ten fingers at a time using all sorts of pressing, sliding, etc, and the CPU meter maxes out at 22. No problem.

I opened the exact same song in W9, and playing the same way, it sends the CPU usage into the high 70s with heavy popping and crackling.

The same thing happens with Biotek.

I'm running Windows 10, 64 bit, and my computer's CPU meter is barely moving.

I use a Presonus AudioBox1818VSL for an interface.

W9 doesn't give me any options other than 800 samples for the Audio Buffer Size.

I've tried using from 1-8 CPU cores. It makes no difference.
I've tried Max Latency high and low. No difference.
I've tried Low Latency Buffer size high and low. No difference.
I've tried every variation of the internal Buffer Multiplier. No difference.

Has anyone had any similar issues going from W8 to W9?
I would really appreciate any help on making this usable!
Thanks!

Hi,

Can you make a simple edit in W8 that reproduces the issue and send me an archive a roland@tracktion.com

Try and keep it to BioTek and DAW Essential plugins and I'll see what's going on.

Off the top of my head, the only thing I can think that would make that big a difference is you have W9 set to DirectSound where W8 is set to ASIO.

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply.
Both W8 and W9 are set to use ASIO.

I'm going to send you an edit that's causing problems that's just Biotek 2.
Thanks!
