I'm kind of a noob, but I'm having a problem when trying to export a song to WAV in Tracktion 7. One midi track keeps hanging a note, resulting in a sustained tone whenever there is no midi information on the track. I tried altering the clips on the track and the resulting export file was like a bitcrushed version on the song which had audio on one channel only and what looked like some kind of automation on the other (on the rendering preview waveform). As I play the song back now in Tracktion, two of the tracks (same VSTi) are distorted and clipping. Please help me.

Could you try exporting the tracks one at a time and see which ones work and which ones don't? Let us know what happens.

If you can identify the actual track, try looking at the individual clips in it.

One of the easiest ways to hang a note in Waveform is to shorten a MIDI clip on a track. Here's what I mean...

1. Record some MIDI data on a clip.
2. Decide the clip is too long.
3. Drag the right end of the clip toward the left to shorten it.
4. Looks good, but discover you get intermittent or repeated hung notes.

If you zoom in on the truncated clip, you might find you have a tiny slice of a note that would have continued into the next bar. So your synth gets the NOTE ON value, but never gets the NOTE OFF because you truncated the clip. I've found one where I had a nearly invisible 512th note because I cut off the rest of it by truncating the clip. Deleting that note fixed the problem.

Let me know if this doesn't make sense, but you could have an errant NOTE ON event in a clip that doesn't get a NOTE OFF event.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.
