I haven't really used the groove template feature yet. So far I'v just shifted whole tracks a bit to make things groove more. I will probably try to make my own templates one day but as for starting point I find only 3 templates provided.
Is anybody using groove template and would you care to share them? I'v look in http://www.tracktionfaction.com/ but they don't even have the heading...

I'v done some Google research on groove temples... it got me really exited 
Groove temples can help alot, trying out different offsets in a non destrutive way, also changing which one is applied over time. Some addidtions would be nice:
1. Control of velocity as well as timing. Even the good old drum machines like tr808 had an Accent feature. It really makes a difference and apply it by groove temple make it soo much more flexible.
2. Ability to have different groove temple on different note ranges, like the samples having different waves depending on the note. Makes it easier to apply diferent groove for the hihat, bas drum etc. Otherwise each instrument must be on separate tracks.
3. Amount control on how much the groove temple is applied, just like quantise.
4. Note length control. Not applicable for percussions but useful for bass and brass stabs e.g.

yes groove templates can be very useful. Their current implementation in tracktion is a little strange though, most people can't figure out how to use them properly (myself included). i'm hoping for a groove template overhaul in v2

Well the thing about Ts groove templates is that they are very easy to use. You just apply them as you would a quantize value to a MIDI clip, but they don`t sound mechanical the way a standard 16th note quanitize does. For example, I have set up a more subtle swing groove template that sounds a bit jazzier (I think) than the one supplied.
The downside of Ts version of groove templates is that they affect both the start and end of the MIDI note - I really prefer it when they affect only the start point . So I find that it`s use is limited to drum parts where it doesn`t matter how long the note lasts for.
