There is a way to select plug-ins graphically rather than from the text lists.
If, instead of dragging the + icon to add a plug-in to a track, you right-click on the + icon, a whole load of tile images appear, each representing a plug-in. Some plug-ins ship with suitable pictures, but some don't. The little camera at the top right of a plug-in's display takes a screen shot of the plug-in and makes the screen-shot the image that appears on the tile for the plug-in.
In the display of images representing plug-ins, you can scroll down to search for the one you want, or you can narrow down the options by entering text into the search box. Once you have found the one you want, start to drag it, and the others disappear, leaving you to drop your chosen plug-in onto the appropriate track.
