Hello,
I'm not a drummer and I tend to sound pretty square when coming up with drums beats.
Do you have any suggestion regarding a natural-sounding, flexible, simple 4/4 hihat square beat (1 hihat hit on every beat) that would make it sound as natural as possible and as far as possible from a drum sequencer ? This is for a basically acoustic guitar track. The beat by itself would be over several bars so that there's more room to play with instead of only one bar of 4 hihat hits.
What would be the MDrummer options that would come into play to make sound as natural as possible ? A bit of shuffle would perhaps help, although are there any other options with which MDrummer would shine in such an approach ? From the actual hihat sample to sample options, playback options, etc...
Cheers.
MDrummer suggestions regarding natural-sounding simple hihats ?

IMO you’re better off using the patterns available in MDrummer for cymbals rather than coming up with your own. I usually cone up with my own kick and snare pattern and then let MDrummer come up with the hihats cymbals, etc. Generally it’s pretty good and I don’t have to change things. Play with the rhythm generator and try some of the different rock styles. Don’t forget to adjust the level, so you can hear all the variations.
Also use a kit with multisamples and try adjusting the humanization, deflection, etc. You don’t want every hit to sound exactly the same.
