hey man, to me this is a multitude of steps above the average musician. Just my opinion but I think you are a amazing artist. Video was really cool too.

Cheers! I've been doing it for 20 years or so... at some point all musicians should actually get good.ATS wrote:hey man, to me this is a multitude of steps above the average musician. Just my opinion but I think you are a amazing artist. Video was really cool too.

I really liked this, especially the lead guitar break...beautiful, authentic 80s vibe. It might just be my tragic nostalgia being triggered but if you had hit those snares with a massive dose of gated reverb, I may well have been back in the school hall discos in '84 at Penrith High...(sigh, back when I had hair that I could still sculpt a decent mullet out of)

Cheers. I often do use gated reverb on snares... but not this time... although there probably is a little plate on there.jacqueslacouth wrote:I really liked this, especially the lead guitar break...beautiful, authentic 80s vibe. This sounds great. I love the effects on the vocals. Usually I don't like vocals with too many effects on them but the mix here is perfect. Cool song. Interesting video. Sounds like something on the radio. Really good work.an-electric-heart wrote:I've shared this a couple of times, but I've just properly put it out... and the master is refined.

Thanks! You're right. Vocal effects depend on the song. If I was mixing a rock song I wouldn't use much, maybe just some tight reverb for thickening. But I reckon for synth stuff, effects just make the singing suite the music more. For this sort of music, I always at least have big reverb (normally plate, but sometimes chamber) and chorus... although chorus is really low in the mix, I normally have a chorus at 100%, but on a send, so the lead is in mono, and the chorus is in stereo. It's just another little "thickening" trick.Local Man wrote:This sounds great. I love the effects on the vocals. Usually I don't like vocals with too many effects on them but the mix here is perfect. This is fantastic! I love everything about it. Of course it doesn’t hurt that I’m still permanently stuck in the 1980’s, but this could easily have been a hit song back in the day.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Thank you... I have a bit of an '80s fetish myself... obviously. ... good thing '80s nostalgia's all the rage right now.deastman wrote:This is fantastic! I love everything about it. Amazing! Yes I have a huge soft spot for the 80s but this could be on so many different stations on SiriusXM. It is a crime that more people won't hear this song.
As was already said, this is another level of production. Thanks for sharing this. Going into my YT playlist.

Even I was offended by what I was going to put here.

The song is very well done, captures the spirit of a decade that I absolutely loathed, musically.
But you did it very well! That is a sincere compliment, btw.

Cool! Thank you. I might try and contact them. However, I find it really hard to even get on Indy radio... it's tough out there!Chemik wrote:Amazing! I think this is really really good.
Loved the lighting in the video, the neon. Very effective.
A bit too much with the flashy box lights, but overall very good.
Liked the solo. Could have done with a bridge or chorus with a more major chord feel to bring us up a bit.
But a lot of work and thought has gone into this song and video. Well done.
