plugins like Pro-Q2

I evaluated Pro-Q2 for a while, but, instead of it, I ended up with buying the DDMF EQ bundle, including DDMF IIEQPro (their main EQ and now my go-to default EQ), LP10 (its linear phase version) and the surprising DirectionalEQ.
They are excellent for me and not expensive, I think they are really worth a look (I'm surprised that nobody have mentioned them here so far). I have also read that a version with a new GUI will be issued in a few days.

(Sorry, I see I posted the same message twice by mistake, I don't know why. Moderators can delete this one, please.)

Thank you! I'll go and see. Also, I have to correct myself: DDMF II EQ Pro had been mentioned once in this topic, I had not seen that before.

I used IIEQ Pro for years as my goto until he changed something in the code which caused Cubase to no longer load the state of the plugin on saved projects in new versions of the plugin. Had to use an older version of IIEQPro for Cubase to see the saved state. The dev tried briefly with me to resolve the issue with a beta build but it didn't work and that's when the dev gave up on me.XComposer wrote:I evaluated Pro-Q2 for a while, but, instead of it, I ended up with buying the DDMF EQ bundle, including DDMF IIEQPro (their main EQ and now my go-to default EQ), LP10 (its linear phase version) and the surprising DirectionalEQ.

So I grimaced and spent the extra money on Pro-Q2, and it hasn't had any issues whatsoever since then (about 5 years now). The extra features of Pro-Q2 are pretty nice (esp the visuals you can freeze in the bg and form EQ nodes and the various EQ modes) too.
Not saying you'll have the same experience, just that someone (me in this case) did so it's something to perhaps consider minorly at least. It is a pretty nice EQ though otherwise.

Just an FYI about the Overtone DSP products: I tested the Pultec clone and FC70 compressor through Plugin Doctor. There appears to be some nice non-linear harmonic dictortion going on. So they aren't just sterile EQ and compression curves, they come with some vibe.

For eq I have converged to
proq2+pro MB combined with neutron2/o8.
Between the 4 of them there is astounding sonic power (functionalities +sound quality).
And they blend eq with other capabilities (compression, exciters, transient design etc etc)
in a very powerful way.
Since you seek something more affordable however
I say go with Crave: it has the same feel as pro q2 plus awesome sound.
Lacks in features set, but it is a wonderful point of compromise between features and price
(NO compromise in sound quality, imo).

Although the thread header is "plugins like Pro-Q2",
after watching the tutorials, McDSP AE600 Active EQ V6 looks very impressive.
Its not at all "like the Pro-Q2" , but does in surgigal settings very many same things as the Pro-Q2, plus many other things, first and foremost its a very effective dynamic Eq.
Worth checking, on sale at the moment just over $ 40, McDSP uses iLok cloud option, i. e. you don't need necessary a dongle (elsewhere than in your pants).

I have AE600 and Pro-Q2. They are quite different in terms of sound. But both are good tools to have on hand. Usually the best price for McDSP is at everyplugin.Harry_HH wrote:Although the thread header is "plugins like Pro-Q2",

IIEQ Pro feels even better tbh, M/S in separate windows was surprising at first but kinda makes sense + multitrack control, access to all instances in one window...
