Waveform Mouse Click Frustration

I've downloaded a demo version of Waveform. So far I really like its direction. Sadly, there's one bug or issue that's probably going to keep me from pulling the trigger. Whenever I try to select something with a mouse click, it appears and then almost instantly disappears before I can make any kind of selection. It's infuriating! I'll click and as I go to make my selection, "poof!" the menu goes away. I have to be lightning quick or have my mouse in the perfect position for it to remain in place. Why is this? Is this on purpose? Is it a bug or even better, a setting I can change so it doesn't do that? I've looked in the preferences and can't find anything.

In all the software I use the first mouse-click opens the menu and keeps it there until you make your selection. It doesn't suddenly disappear if you're not fast enough or take a millisecond too long to decide or browse through the list of options. WTF? :x

I've been trying to learn the software but this frustrates me so much I just end up shutting it down after a few minutes. What's the point of not being able to make the necessary selections?

I hope someone out there can give me a quick fix or option setting I'm missing. Thanks in advance for reading this.

Most odd - I don't recognise what you're describing at all. What operating system are you using? Can you give some examples (step by step) of what you've done when this has happened? Are these disappearing menus brought up by left- or right-clicking? When I click for menus, they stay until they...

...oh, hang on, I think I might know what it is...

...I think what you're seeing is not a menu; it's the pop-up help feature. It's a read-only thing telling you about whatever us under the cursor and it appears when the cursor spends more than a moment or so over an element. You can turn it off and on via the Help button in the lower left corner. Click Help, and if you want the pop-ups, make sure it says Turn off pop-up help. I'd say most users have disabled that, or will do once they've got used to things.

If you want a menu from an item, there are two things. First off is that the lower middle of the screen contains the Properties Panel, which changes to be appropriate for whatever is currently highlighted. The other way to a menu is to right-click an element, and then you will get a menu and it will sit there until you select something or click on something else.

Thanks for responding. It's not a pop-up (context) menu. I know what those are. I am on a Mac with OS 10.13. I am referring to menus. If I right click to try and add a plugin or right-click the track to try and select my input, etc. The menu that pops up after I click goes away unless my mouse quickly rolls into the area. It does not stay in place. It disappears before I can make my selection. I've included a link below which took me several screen capture attempts because it kept reverting to its original state faster than I could input my key command.

Ah, okay, sorry for making the wrong assumption then. I'm on Windows, so perhaps a Mac user can give you better feedback.

Some menus on Ubuntu 16.04 are not opening or just blink open and close right away, but most buttons still work and for me this isn't new, it was also happening with Tracktion7.

Thanks mandrang. Bummer that it's been around that long and it hasn't been fixed. I might find it more frustrating than most because I'm accustomed to right-clicking to access things quicker. Hopefully, they'll fix this soon.

anecdotal remark,
I'm getting similar miss-click issues with Firefox and Youtube (that has too complex internal scripting ^_^).
Windows7 (old notebook) and Windows 8.1 (used with mouse _plus_ touch screen) behave quite differently.
There must be something with internal Mouse and Windows settings...
Maybe it is not the application alone. The switch from old-style PC to multipoint touch screen introduced quirky complexities behind the curtain. Even when you don't have a touch screen. Also, system settings like / open file with one click OR double click / might play a role here. Apple OS might suffer from similar paradigm changes.

My Win 7 system has very conservative settings, and Tracktion behaves fine with all menus.
