How does it work, what is it doing to the signal?Whywhy wrote:We can do some super clean phase modulation with the new oscillator shaper and some crazy waveshaping.

1: put an oscillator with a sine
2: put a oscillator shaper with a sine ,in serie.
Listen the result.
Now, go in the first oscillator, and adjust his volume at -16 db:
You have a sine wave.
Now, play with the oscillator1 volume and you have phase modulation.
If you insert, between the 2 modules, one or two volume and pan, you be able to have more phase modulation amount if you add some gain.
And now, put, in serie, a mixer, another osc shaper, and in parallel an oscillator, connect it to the mixer, listen, put another...
Remember, the volume of the first oscillator is at -16db.
In the first, osc, you can draw an half sine, a unipolar cosine, I'm not sure about the term...
Listen the pitch...
About the exact tech behind this new module, only Vojtech have the right response, I just relate my user experience.

I came up with the idea because one of the beta testers proposed a multiple PWM transformations, so I thought about more generalized approach. And this OscillatorShaper can be really exploited to most hardcore extremes

I'm lost in all those pages and posts, is there a release date for MSoundFactory??

It’s still in beta, so AFAIK there is no release date yet.Neon Breath wrote:I'm lost in all those pages and posts, is there a release date for MSoundFactory??

Is the OSC shaper using phase distortion? I'm interested in how its making the sounds. Is it waveshaping? I found it can make interesting electric piano sounds if you use the provided wave forms. I bet there are a lot of interesting sounds that can be made. It might be easier and have less phasing problems than trying to create wavetables, at least for certain usages.

I think, the oscillator shaper is hard sync to
The input signal , and fm or PM.
Plus, a lot of Melda black magic tricks!

Its been a few days, so I thought I’d ask a few questions.
1). How are you planning on using MSF? Presets only, creating your own sounds, sound design, etc.
2). What is the most interesting type of synthesis for you?
3). If you’re going to make presets, what type of presets are you going to make.
4). If you’re not making presets, what type of sounds are you interested in having?
There isn’t really a purpose to this I wa just curious about what other people liked and were interested in.

1. Beginning with preset alteration and then move into sound design.
2. This is a bit deep, but interesting https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/a560/4 ... 51587a.pdf
(I kind of lean towards the unconventional - granular synthesis being my latest love)
3. Percussion is usually my starting point in sound design. You can always add tonal features afterwards to turn a drum into a pad or synth. I also like the idea of creating patches that are breathable - where the parameters that define it are all somewhat in flux. Use different flavors of noise as modulators for every possible destination to give a more organic type of patch.
4. I like sounds that evolve or vary depending on how they are triggered - think of a pluck that becomes a pad by holding the keys for longer, or pressing them softly.
5. ...or whatever happens to float my boat that day

Hi Chandler,
1) do every sound from scratch
2) There are no preferences. I find them all very interesting
3) clicky, noisy, ambient, rythmical, strange sounds in general. But I will aim too for some Mellotron style oldish sounds and some fat string like sounds like in the Solina or the Vox Humana and such and some deep moving pads. But it needs time...I don´t have too much of
4) surprise me

So far, I have not been very adventurous in the use of the tone generator modules. I have three nearly-finished presets. They are pretty deep in that they are individually highly programmable. So far I have a tone-wheel organ (B3-like with a number of extra bells and whistles), a Novachord-like implementation, and a preset call "Ghost Organ" which uses filtered noise in place of sine waves. Next I might do a Vox-Continental-like preset, which would be different enough from the tone-wheel organ to make it worth having in addition to the tone-wheel implementation.Chandlerhimself wrote: Wed Oct 03, 2018 5:14 am 3). If you’re going to make presets, what type of presets are you going to make.
I look forward to some guidelines on standard features (what is in the Globals parameter section in addition to Volume, for instance).
So many possibilities, so little time!

Guys, is it me or I've read somewhere that MSoundFactory will do re-synthesis?
