This is a very common practice. In Europe the sales tax (VAT) is required to be included in the posted price. It is technically not something that is "charged extra". In the US this is different. To make things more even more complex, the amount VAT differs from country to country and retailers have to use the rate of the country the customer resides in. Many European retailers therefore just post one price, which depending on where you are from is inclusive or exclusive of whatever VAT is required.
I'm aware that it's a common practice, and I avoid companies that do this, with the exception of U-He.

That‘s not very consequent... :scared:

I'm not sure how this pans out for Australian customers these days. In the typical arrogant fashion of our government down under, they seem to expect businesses in other countries to collect GST (the Aus version of VAT) on their behalf. I rather hope these businesses simply give Australia the bird and instruct them to politely go fark themselves.

It is really quite simple as I see it, if you are a business registered and operating in another country for taxation purposes, then your debt to Australia is diddly squat! We are the victims of a couple of loud mouthed retail advocates called Dick and Jerry who seem to have enough mates in Canberra to force protectionist strategies to support a pathetic, price gouging, non-competitive retail sector. :x

Especially since you can actually get u-he stuff from JRR essentially without the tax. ;)

Being a fellow Aussie, I can say first hand that these days some merchants Ive bought from have added GST - most notable was FL Studio where I bought the producer edition and got slapped this extra hefty GST fee (adds up on larger purchases). Its a strange expectation for every shop overseas to have to collect extra tax, do they pass it on to an Aus government body? Anyway its a hidden variable that strikes depending on the shops' adherence and ability to slap the extra fee on the cart checkout. Not a tax I ever got to vote on, it certainly doesnt do me or the shop any favours! Bureaucracy complicating things beyond need and Im already suffering from bad currency conversion..

Would be nice if it could be contained there. We might need a "no complaining about taxes" thread rule or something.

Uncle E: is it possible to get the $29 upgrade from 2016 Stereo Room on your site? Or will that upgrade price only be possible directly from Eventide? Thanks.

Russel where is this on the eventide site? I wasn't aware there was an upgrade. I can't even find the plugin on the Eventide site except a video about it.

This is a new release and it's currently 3am at the Eventide HQ (New Jersey), so expect them to release all relevant information during the course of the day

Hey Uncle E, does this come with the new smart:EQ2 or the old smart:EQ+? On the Sonible site it says the bundle includes the EQ2 but I could not find any info about that on your site. If it does I might actually go for that instead of the Frei:raum -> EQ2 cross-grade.

Where did you find this info.
frei:raum is actually one plugin with the EQs integrated (not a bundle with different plugins). There has not been an update to frei:raum since some time. But today I got a crossgrade offer by email for an upgrade to smart EQ 2 for 9.90€ until end of October.
smart EQ 2 seems to be like smart EQ live, but without the zero latency mode.
frei:raum consists of smart EQ. There has also been a smart:EQ+ which had features not in frei:raum.
