Part of the reason I will pass up om Falcon is that it does not have enough randomizers in the Absynth tradition. If I am wrong let me know then I will reconsider the Falcon deal.

Any suggestions which two expansions I should get?
(I know, I should listen to demos and it also depends on my needs, but I just want to hear how you guys think.) :phones:
Edited: NVM. With $100 voucher and 50% off coupon, I am able to grab all the expansions for $17 :hihi:
Oh my God so awesome. I almost own them all but paid a lot more than $17!
I see the sale on Falcon. I see the 2 freebie epansion offer. I see the $100 voucher. But where is this 50% off coupon of which you speak?

Thanks

I believe this: "Also expansions half price with code JL89GV through October 15"
Awesome. Thanks for the code, Commodore.
Where did I miss that? Was it in an email or on the UVI site somewhere?
A search turns up the Bargains Only thread with BluesMuse's post, but I can't find where the code comes from.

The code was in an email from UVI that I got announcing the sale. I do already own Falcon. Good stuff.
Just wanted to report that I just bought Falcon + ALL 8 Expansions for a total of $261.00. All coupon codes worked like a charm. Thanks guys!

Falcon is awesome. It's different from Zebra and Synthmaster. It's a sampler, like Kontakt and Halion. You can play other libraries inside of it, replacing UVI player, with a lot more depth.

BERFAB wrote: Wed Oct 10, 2018 2:46 pm Well, with half-price expansions, you walk away with Falcon and all the expansions for about $250. That's about $750 worth of gear for about two thirds off. Not bad at all.

-B
In that logic you should rave about, lets say, Waves bundle "real price" $ 900, "now only $ 125".

"Worth gear", as you put it, is not caunted in my world by the SRP, but the value for the user.

Therefore that kind of "you walk away with $$$ worth gear" statements, are next to nothing for me.

Of course, for someone this can be an excellent deal.

Oh dear. Don't get depressed, I'm sure next week Waves will launch another $ 1250 gear only by $ 175 deal. You will get a chance for a new boner... ;-)

A basic rule of economics is that a thing is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I have been lusting after Falcon for some time, and I actually have a post somewhere on KVR from quite a while ago asking about sales because the MSRP was pretty steep and I couldn't find any retailer anywhere that offered any discount. People were obviously paying the full freight and my options were pretty limited. So I waited, and finally got this deal. Not only 30% off, but essentially 30% off including ALL the expansions. Pretty sweet. I saved some actual money, and others who buy it now will too.

Regarding Waves: years ago, Waves was way out of reach for most non-pros (and some pros). They commanded, and received, top dollar for their bundles. And, you couldn't usually buy individual plugs. If you wanted them, you had to get the bundles. With the proliferation of better/cheaper/faster competition, Waves changed their model and started releasing individual plugs and bundles at steep discounts. I have a number of these plugs, purchased on sale. I know for a fact that many people have paid much more for the same thing. I don't know how many people STILL pay full price for non-sale priced Waves bundles, but I'm sure there are some studios that need to so that they stay current. Certainly the current value of these bundles is lower than it was back in the day, but as with any sale, each potential customer will have to determine what that value is to them.

Falcon plus all expansions is a pretty powerful package and Falcon sales are not that frequent. What‘s the point in bargain hunting if you can‘t brag about your catch? ;)

Yeah, that's excatly what I pointed out, with other words - on the contrary for those, who used the given theoretical retail price as a criteria.

It seems that you don't quite know the history of Waves. It wasn't just "for non-pros and some pros", but almost only software plugin used in professional studios, too, besides the Pro Tools factory tools (and hardware).

This shows, that the value is most subjective thing, and depends, besides the supply in the market, or feature of the product, but very much on the fashion, viral influence, and other near-irrational factors.
Todays most wanted are /can be tomorrows outcasts.

I love Falcon for a ton of reasons...first of all, UVI gives 3 activations with all their products. No one has to like iLOK but if its a necessary evil, 3 are great. The fact that its part sampler and part massive synth, I love that. I recently asked two sampler developer if their samplers could do match import of wav files and key map automatically if the key name is in the file name, but neither could do it. And these are sold as "samplers". Falcon can. And for not being a "true" sampler, thats pretty awesome. I use UVI products all-the-time (no, I'm not sponsored by them, but i would like to be...if you read this Olivier :)) and Falcon is just a great plugin to have. And yes, I have used and own Omnisphere 2.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, for the most part. Just clarifying. Again, my point was only that SOMEONE, apparently, IS willing to pay the advertised MSRP prices. That's what gives the products their worth. The fact that YOU (or I for that matter) won't pay those prices, only means that those products aren't worth that amount to YOU. If EVERYONE refused to pay those prices, then the products simply aren't worth the advertised prices, period.

Also, I didn't say that Waves "was for non-pros and some pros." I said it was out of reach for non-pros and some pros because of the high pricing (which was meant to be for pro-level studios). The later switch in their business model was to open up their market to consumer-level pricing. Apologies if this wasn't clear.

I'm obviously just getting into it, but really having a good time. Bit of a learning curve, plus just installing and registering all the expansions is taking some time. But worth it.
I've also got Omnisphere 2, Halion 6, Kontakt, Komplete, and a shed load of other gear, like most devoted KVRers. :D To me, it's just more colors on the palette (or weapons in your arsenal for the gamers out there). Stumble onto something great, and inspiration soars. And isn't that the point?

Cheers
