Dear KVR Members,

We are happy to announce Destructor 1.3, a free update for our distortion and amp simulation plug-in.

This new version of the plug-in includes a new minimized amp-style view, multiple performance enhancements, new clean guitar amp presets and several other improvements (full list below).

Image
The update is free for existing customers, available from the same location as the original download (link received by email upon purchase). If you do not have the plug-in yet, check out the demo versions available on http://www.bluecataudio.com or our Destructor videos.

New in Blue Cat's Destructor v1.3:
- New minimized view (displays only the main "Guitar Amp-style" controls).
- New clean guitar amp presets.
- Faster GUI loading / instantaneous GUI display after it has been opened once.
- Limiter on/off state is now independent from presets ("always locked").
- UI lock now also includes control settings display (green arrows).
- Performance and memory usage improvements (both GUI and DSP).
- Improved automation recording (and undo) in many host applications when controlling the plug-in with MIDI.
- Fixed: changing bypass in the Audio Unit version did not update host application's bypass state.
- Win: fixed copy/paste that sometimes stopped working until next app restart.

System requirements:
- Intel Mac running Mac OS 10.7 or newer.
- PC running Windows Vista or newer.

Enjoy!

By the way, there are new videos showing Blue Cat's Destructor 1.3 in action, you might want to check them out:

Blue Cat's Destructor has just been updated to v1.32! This free update includes the new randomize feature and all the new factory presets that were created for the release of Axiom.

As usual the update can be downloaded from the same location as the original full version (link received by email upon purchase).

Also, we have created a presets sharing thread in our forum if you want to share your distortion and amp sim presets with the community.

I never underestimate the value of a good randomizer :hyper:
The old CamelCrusher/CM Fuzz app was/is a delight,
just a panel with simple compressor, filter, distortion,
wet/dry mix, with a volume knob, but highly effective.

I hope this update will work it's way into a new Axiom installer
or update procedure. U-he made a randomizer script,
which you would place in a preset folder. Choose a preset,
then choose the script like you were picking a new preset,
and it would randomize the previous sound, with the nice
caveat that you could modify the percentage of change to
the parameters as desired, so a beloved sound could
be placed in a folder with the script at 10%, and make
new sounds surrounding and hopefully bettering the one
that is loved.

I noticed last night that Pianoteq has added a randomizer,
their take was left-click the button to randomize,
or right-click for a lighter randomization. I look forward
to using your incarnation. But all this great new software,
and still just 24 hours in a day. Something has to give,
it can't just go on this way...

Definitely digging the randomize feature. :tu:

For a plugin with this kind of depth, it's a fun way to find new settings or tones or at least have a starting point for something new.

It's indeed a good way to break habits and discover new soundscapes (not only for guitar amps but distortion and non-linear effects in general).

It's time for an update! You might be interested in knowing that we have now added impulse responses support to the party, as part of a larger software update.

You can now load custom impulse responses into the pre or post sections of Destructor and mix them with other filters. It is of course very useful for cabinet & room simulations for amp simulations, but you can also experiment new kinds of complex filtering before or after the destruction stage!

You can also shift the frequency response to completely transform the sound of the original IR:

We are also running a promotion on Destructor, Axiom or the Axe Pack bundle (up to 25% off), it's time to check them out!

Enjoy!

Is there a maximum length for the IR?

No! As usual there is no limit ;-)

... Well eh, except the CPU: the larger the impulse, the larger the CPU usage.

awesome, cheers!

I guess you are asking because of the limitations on impulse responses length that are usually found for cabinets?

Heads up! Blue Cat's Destructor 1.41 is here!

What's New:
- Spectrum analysis is now performed in the background and does not affect audio performance.
- Improved convolution performance for the impulse response loader on multicore processors.

The update is free and available from the same location as the previous version, as usual. Enjoy!

There is quite a bit of re-amping done with Destructor on Martin Miller's guitar tone in the video below, so we'd like to share this incredible Queen medley with you!
