I'm only doing this because I love U-He products, I never really got over my stupidity of selling my Hive license and Vurt said he saw this so...

One that i agree with, though. Don't get me wrong, i think u-he does nice plugins, one of the best in the business. But... a bit overrated in these parts, definitely.

I find it appalling people would attack Urs.. and in his own company subforum. I'm so very glad I never got into VST development or any other public-facing programming work and have to deal with this type of behavior. We have forgotten that people exist behind the screen names and it is so easy then to launch ugly comments.
A reminder if you have nothing polite to say, chose to say nothing at all.

When you say "overrated," do you mean there's a specific part of a specific product that's not as good as people say it is? Or is this more of a 'people like it a lot therefore i feel inexplicable unease' style of thing.
It would be difficult to rate further than
I notice a tendency for people to think that saying their opinion is 'unpopular' gives them some sort of intellectual credibility, like they are the only ones able to confront the truth and everyone shies away from an idea which is uncomfortable to them.
But it doesn't, it just means that for some reason or another, everyone else thinks they're wrong. It gives no weight either way.
Which is why I'm wondering what the exact problem is.

I like the u-he products, no doubt! Great prieces of software. But I dislike the praise of them as god given, just because they're from u-he. I also dislike Urs sometimes stating his opinion on things as fact (like copy protection or certain synthesis algorithm) trying to convince people because they simply don't know better.
It was also not about attacking someone. But if you create a topic for worshipping someone you might also expect that some say "I don't think so"...

Everyone believes that the thing they believe to be true is a fact, though. Even people who admit that they might be wrong still don't actually believe that they are. If they believed that they were wrong, they would hold a different point of view.mike_the_ranger wrote: Sun Oct 14, 2018 2:36 pm I also dislike Urs sometimes stating his opinion on things as fact (like copy protection or certain synthesis algorithm) trying to convince people because they simply don't know better.
Even you're sort of doing it right now, aren't you?
If you're referring to the kind of arrogance where a person believes that there is no possibility for them to be wrong and that everyone else is an idiot, and who spends their entire time talking down to everyone else, I never actually witnessed that in any of the things I've seen him write, especially not compared to how most people on this forum express themselves. Maybe I just haven't seen his true ugly side yet?
EDIT: i admit that sometimes the way that people prostrate themselves in front of figures they admire can be a little goofy and awkward, but that's just how people are. they've been that way for hundreds, probably thousands of years

It's like youtube videos, you have people who are overly fawning, whole other people are overly hating. It make me wonder if only a handful of people are genuinely self-aware enough to have independent thought.
You are just not allowed to have an opinion anymore on the internet.

The issue isn't about not or are allowed to have an opinion. The issue is sharing where sharing shouldn't happen. If your thoughts are rude or otherwise malicious to a person then why share your opinion with them?egbert101 wrote: Sun Oct 14, 2018 3:43 pm It's like youtube videos, you have people who are overly fawning, whole other people are overly hating. The internet age has forgotten politeness and respect for one another it seems..

Holy f**k I wish I could upvote this a million times. People go out of their way these days to express their dislike of something. Back in my day, we called them dicks. There are way more of them now.VitaminD wrote: Sun Oct 14, 2018 4:11 pm The issue isn't about not or are allowed to have an opinion. The issue is sharing where sharing shouldn't happen.
