Resynthesis might not work with certain samples but even from those you might extract a few frames that produce an interesting sound taht is differnt to the sampled intrument.ChamomileShark wrote: Sun Oct 14, 2018 10:56 am I've been experimenting a bit with the resynthesis yesterday.
One thing that was suprising that you can ofter get better results, truer to the original sound, using only a small number of frames rather than the full 99.
For some reason even though complex sounds like a spoken phrase can be resynthesised reasonably well, so far things like gongs, cymbals come out sounding horrible.
For the resynthesis before you import you can also add "analysis markers" manually instead of craeating them automatically and then do the resynthesis if it sounds the way you like it.
With the resynthesis in Synclavier V2 you have to be aware that the amplitude is not imported so all frames will have the same loudness, opposing to a percussive sound that gets more and more silent after a while. This is a bit different with the resynthesis in Tone2 Icarus that also imports the amplitude for the single waveforms in the new wavetable.
In Synclavier V2 when using synthesis and no samples you need to adjust the Amp envelope to get a percussive sound.
While using Samples only works in teh Carrier the result of the resyntheis could be also used in the modulator (or with both the carrier and modulator) if you want to use use that for doing FM. As mentioned earlier doing FM also seems to work when using a sample in the carrier.
What does not work with additive resynthesis is importing the sound of detuned oscillators (e.g. a Supersaw) or FXs like e.g. a Chorus, Phaser or Reverb. It will just import the basic timbre of the sound.
With up to 12 layers Synclavier V2 offers a nice option to produce detuned sounds. You just have to copy it multiple times and then detune the layers which are called "Partials" in Synclavier V2. Detune and panning pf the layers/partials could be easily set at the mixer page.
Besides that the plugin also contains a Chorus FX. The "Chorus" parameter in the mixer works a bit different than a Chorus FX.
