Before I start sending elcallio projects and samples to investigate, I'm curious to know whether anyone else here has been able to successfully load any older v2 projects with the new version. I don't think I've seen anyone mentioning that yet. So far I've had zero luck -- v3 asks me to locate the samples and appears to load them, then throws me an XML error (I'm back to v2 right now, so I can't check exactly what it says) and loads up with an empty performance. This happens in all of the projects I've tried so far, but I realize that it could be some issue on my end.

Anyone?

Post

yea, it seems completely broken to me. Same problem.
I'm gonna go back to V2 as well.

All old project files I have available have loaded fine in v3, but obviously this is not comprehensive enough. Can you share the files that fail to load?

Yes, i could share it with you if that is helpful.
I did go back to V2 for now as it was always stable for me and I really need the backwards compatibility. So I think just need to wait a bit to switch to V3 since there isn't an easy way to install both.

Something that's worth mentioning is, I didn't have some of the presets I was using saved with anything other than the REAPER project. The way I often use TX16Wx is as a way to load SF2 or SFZ instruments, or I just drop in a couple samples and tweak them a bit.
I don't usually save " .txprog" or ".txperf" files, unless it's specifically something I want to use in another project. I have saved them all now in this example to gather the sounds all together for you, so it's possible this could effect the outcome of the test?

I'm sending a zipped file via wetransfer to:

Cool! We're making progress, now it works in some instances but not others, which still load up empty. V3 still has problems finding the associated wave files when loading up a patch. Also, all loaded patches seem to default to "Fixed" scale mapping rather than "Normal".

Please send me files that don't load correctly.

Here you go, huge download but I guess it can't be helped. The project expects to find the samples under D:\Samples if that is relevant. It's the first instance of TX that fails, the one with all the strings patches.

First off: Nice (huuge) project. I like it.
Second: The only load failure I get is due to the icon(s) in the programs. The bank version of at least some of the programs had saved the path as an absolute path. A _really_ lame typo in the parser icon resolve code path made it not ask for the file it failed to find, and instead threw an exception.
While I found some nice improvements for the automatic path resolver, assuming the same file structure as you provided, it should at the very least ask for one of the samples (per instance) unless you have the "Samples" root in your "places" path?

Also, I could not reproduce any failure to load group key cents etc. In fact, with resolver fix + "places" including the "Samples" folder, the project seems to load silently and flawlessly for me.

Do you have any other details on the load failure?

Can you re-test with 3.0.4?

I'm a little busy at the moment, but will check tonight. And yes, I did have D:/Samples in my V2 locations but I must confess I wasn't even aware that was used for resolving paths in the plugin, I thought it was just a shortcut for the sample browser. So if I put this in V3 as well, it should technically stop asking for where the samples are?

Post

OK, tried 3.0.4.

- Still asks for samples files on startup, but all instances do load properly this time (maybe because it could find the icon)
- I don't understand how to add a path to Places. There's no editable text fields, no "+" button or anything, and drag & drop doesn't seem to work either?
- Is the Mod Table section gone? None of the MW crossfade layers I had in these patches are working anymore.
- Pitch is till set to Fixed.
- Enabling DFD per sample is a PITA to say the least. Is there no global option for enabling it?

All in all I have to say it would make much more sense to have TX v3 as its own separate plugin, since there appears to be many, many changes between the two versions which inevitably means that loading a v2 project is unlikely to to work flawlessly. So if the choice is between using either v2 or v3, I'm sad to say I'll probably not bother with using v3 at all as being able to access old projects is crucial to me.

Could you point me to the program(s) what load with pitch set to fixed?

1. Browse to the path you want to add
2. Press the star button in top right of file browser of TX
