You can do hardsync, FM and formant stuff via wavetables. Examples have been posted in the other thread. It's very good!

But you have to write fornulas to do fm? Can you crossmod? Sorry i just never touched that new beta topic. Just quickly checked few random pages.

Crossmod is not much different to FM. That said you can simply use scripts others wrote, which is pretty simple. You don't have to bother with code if you don't want to...

Not much different is different because it gives different result :)

It's literally the same thing, except it's not using sinewaves.

Exactly thats why its NOT THE SAME thing, only method is the same :) maybe if your FM pallete is limited to 80s sounds like those dx pianos, yeah maybe its to you. But if you broader your sound pallete you would realise that for certain sounds only crossmod works because on FM you cannot modulate supersaw with a supersaw or square modulated by supersaw :)

So Method is the same, but end result you can get is not

Maybe NKS could be a community effort like the current unofficial NKS version is?

Would be interested to hear examples where cross mod between anything other than sine waves produces a musically useful or at least interesting result rather than variations on a theme of inharmonic grunge.

Hardcore, hardstyle, crossbreed, some harder EDM tracks...mainly hard dance music

But i have a feeling you will say "its not a music, there is nothing musical there", i hope im wrong :D

EDIT: at 2:39 that screetchy top layer, i used monarks mod function to modulate Oscillator 1 saw by oscillator 3 saw/noise.

Yes, you can, there have been FM synths that can do that because there are FM synths which don't use JUST sinewaves. And in case of Hive, you just change sin() with a formula for a different waveform in whatever FM script... :P

In UHM scripts it's possible to do all kinds of crossmod and fm. With sines or noise or anything in between. In the end it's all just waveform shaping. Also in UHMs you can have unlimited envelopes to control amounts of cross modulation in different parts of waveform or wavetable. Here's gif of a funny looking waveform that is modulated by rectified sine, which is modulated by pure sine with phase jitter, and everything has its own pitch and amp envelope:

Sounds good to me!

Just for fun and curiosity, can you post a screen shot of the current state of the new 2.0 GUI ?

Cheers.

There is always a lot of excellent freeware, I'd rather pay
for an interim 1.2, and have some bonuses handed out to
your employees (and the boss). By the time your planned
full release is ready, whatever was charged for 1.2
would be long forgotten, washed towards the Atlantic by
the bevvy of new wavetable based sounds.
Mi dos centavos
Cheers

P.S. you might underestimate the happiness
that comes from using your products

Urs wrote: Fri Oct 26, 2018 2:02 pm Hi all,

We just had a meeting about the forthcoming Hive 1.2 release, and came to the conclusion that we really can't release a full-spec version this year without cutting too many corners.

So how about an interim "Hive 1.2" in December? With the new wavetables and presets that use them, with the new preset browser - but using the old skins? After that, we step it up to version 2.0 some time next year: New GUI, lots of new features, vastly expanded factory library, NKS... in fact all the stuff we planned but can't get done this year, plus a whole heap of more recent ideas!

What do you think?

- U

P.S. As always version 1.2 will be free for Hive owners. :-) We promise that the major upgrade to version 2.0 will have a very friendly price, though this ultimately depends on how much work we have to put into its development.

Good plan! :tu:

And the procedural wavetables already are an exciting addi(c)tion! :D

Urs, please could you indicate: upgrade 2.0 lower/higher than €30,- ?

(Of course it depends on how much work is needed ..)
