What Is a Melda Tuple?

In a modulator, interval Type options are Straight, Triplet, Dotted and Tuple. Triplet actually is a tuple with three ticks per major beat. But the general term "tuple" needs a number associated with it that specifies the count of ticks per major beat. I always thought that number was taken from the Count parameter, but I just tested and that's not it.

So where does that number come from and can it be changed or is it some fixed value? If that fixed value was 5, for example (and it doesn't seem to be), we should just call Tuple "Quintuple".

So, what kind of Tuple is a Tuple?

It's funny how I never lost thoughts about this, haha. Actually a "dotted" is not a dotted in a classic sense. A 1/4 dotted is basically a 1/8 dotted after all.

A tuplet indeed is kind of strange to me. Would like to be informed as well!

I asked this once and the reply that Vojtek gave me was "Tuplets are like triplets, but instead of 3, there's 5 "

Yes, these are quintuplets, but the name is too long . Higher tuplets are so extreme that I don't think they would get handy for most people at all...

A search brought up some hits in forums where folks used 5-tuplet as a short form. Still too long? 5-tplt may do.

Anything is better then tuplet on its own.

I was going to make the very same suggestion. "tuple" is just plain misleading. "5tuple" or some variant would be more informative - at least it would have made this thread unnecessary.
