Did this ever happen in history? In the end its about products and creativity. If its not already in the company, money cannot buy it. If you think ideas are enough to push a company forward, you most likely just push the creative people out of their own creative flow. Though they probably like it, because they are paid and don‘t have to deal with the business part...
If you really want to push an existing company forward, you support them with your money and don‘t take over...

Angry Red Planet and get them to finish Temper.
Though i believe the Dev claims to have lost the code.

Could have been a truly great sequencer that would have been up there with Bitwig in terms of creativity.

A very cool and useful sequencer in its current state.

Its midi pipeline, modular modulation system and pianoroll tools are unique in the VST world.

It was heavily inspired by Bars & Pipes and developed on BeOS as Sequiter before being redeveloped for Windows.

So you dont think Crysinic could be improved in some way?

I didnt realise this was a serious thread and you all intend to carry out your takover plans :o
Serious? Well not more serious than a discussion like What could happen if you cross a Rolls with a Fiat... or perhaps a bit more serious than that. I think that perhaps ideas may come up that the devs could actually have use for.

And no, having no money anyway, I will not buy a music software company. :)

Lost code is not a problem, especially if the design is years old. Even if you had the code, you would rewrite it from sratch...

...and why not HG Fortune's 32 bit synths as well, to carry on the torch.

Agreed. We programmers tend to rewrite our code too many times anyway...

Oh - and I am shocked Sibelius or the Finale guys haven't acquired StaffPad yet. What a gem!

I've "lost" code before. Back in prehistoric times before there was any sensible and relatively easy way to make reliable backups I had a hard drive fail at that magic moment. It was my own fault for just leaving the hard drive sitting in the bottom of the computer on edge. I kicked the computer, the drive fell over, and that was the end of a very large module that I had been working on a major update for the prior week or so. I checked all of my backups, (on floppies), but none of the ones with sufficiently recent source could be read. I was able to save the object file from the dying hard drive so I continued on without that source for about six months before the project sort of reached the end of its life. I should have just rewrote the module right then and there, but I couldn't find the will to get it done.

I would buy FabFilter and keep their future plugins only for myself.

But don't worry, I'll share HD screenshots on KVR...

Agreed! In honour of him, I actually developed a computer game once where the player was an astronaut from the planet Xoxos :D Haven't heard that name for a long time now though...

Of course, in all business categories. Looking at companies to acquire or work with and for people to hire was one of my main responsibilities in our music software company.

For example, I interviewed one of the contestants for this year's developer challenge.

...and when we disappeared, other companies took over our coders.

I'd say a reason why there are so many individual devs at KVR is that some of them want to be "discovered" and hired. For us musicians, it's a great thing!
