Register for an installer to use a demo, then, as someone else pointed out, a crap installation method involving a command window and no options for choosing path.antic604 wrote: Tue Nov 06, 2018 8:58 amYou mean the Installer? I don't mind it, as I also have their other plugins and this makes it easier to organise things.
However, it IS ridiculous that the Installer doesn't recognise what you already have installed and whether or not there are any updates available. This really needs fixing.
Good one.

You're not expected to do anything in the command window (other installers probably just hide it?) and you can set a path for VST2.4 (not for VST3, but I don't recall any plugin that lets me choose that).BMoore wrote: Tue Nov 06, 2018 1:29 pmRegister for an installer to use a demo, then, as someone else pointed out, a crap installation method involving a command window and no options for choosing path.
I mean I'm not here to defend it, but those "problems" are far from being a deal breaker.

Its still a good sounding and useful tool.worldfever wrote: Mon Nov 05, 2018 4:26 pm people that have used it for a month, does it live up to the hype? I'm looking for something new & inspiring for experimental sound design
The demo last for 2 weeks so you can get some use out of it for a reasonable time.

I also have issues with the interface. On a small laptop, it’s very cumbersome to horizontally scroll all the time.
yeah, i kind of agree. i have a side scroll wheel on my mouse so its not too bad really. what i kind of wish....i understand the gui is vector and making it bigger makes everything bigger....but i really wish i could just make the window larger without increasing the size of whats in it. i have an ultrawide monitor, so being able to use that width to see more would be great.
as it is....i keep making the window larger and even though i know its going to do it...i get disappointed when the whole thing gets larger and i cant see any more modules than i could before.
this is nit picking i know...but i could see a ton more modules if the thing would only let me...but it doesnt.

well...i mean, as i stated earlier...its not an "installation" manager (regardless of what they named it) its a digital rights manager....and its not there to be helpful to you in any way at all. it doesnt need any fixing...it already does exactly what its there to do.antic604 wrote: Tue Nov 06, 2018 8:58 am However, it IS ridiculous that the Installer doesn't recognise what you already have installed and whether or not there are any updates available. It's not rights manager! It doesn't even register the plugins you own, you need to do it 'manually' from plugin level. What it only does it allows you to install all PA plugins, even those you don't own.chaosWyrM wrote: Tue Nov 06, 2018 4:41 pmwell...i mean, as i stated earlier...its not an "installation" manager (regardless of what they named it) its a digital rights manager....and its not there to be helpful to you in any way at all. it doesnt need any fixing...it already does exactly what its there to do.antic604 wrote: Tue Nov 06, 2018 8:58 am However, it IS ridiculous that the Installer doesn't recognise what you already have installed and whether or not there are any updates available. The PA manager doesn't manage authorizations at all. If you don't get that I'm not sure why your argument against it is valid. For what it's worth, I find the installer to be very helpful. I own 22 PA plugins and this allows me to manage them all at once and easily. The concept of installing 22 plugins w installers on a new machine from PA, 18 from softube and who knows how many from Native Instruments is not viable -- a setup can take days this way. These installation managers are much, much better and, frankly, I don't see the counter-argument to PAs (or even the more intrusive ones.)

another dislike; i can't save the plugin ui size. Other UA plugins have this awesome setting where one can dial in the desired UI size. This one is only resizeable, but it won't 'remember' the size. Bummer

It isn't. It is just an (multi)installer. Authorisations are being done on plugin level. I like it. It works like a charmchaosWyrM wrote: Tue Nov 06, 2018 4:41 pmwell...i mean, as i stated earlier...its not an "installation" manager (regardless of what they named it) its a digital rights manager....and its not there to be helpful to you in any way at all. it doesnt need any fixing...it already does exactly what its there to do.antic604 wrote: Tue Nov 06, 2018 8:58 am However, it IS ridiculous that the Installer doesn't recognise what you already have installed and whether or not there are any updates available.
