the lack of magick, dragons or superheroes always left me cold.
even a robot might have helped.

Skyfall is definitely bad. Spectre and Casino Royale are good ones with Daniel Craig.

I've never been much of a Bond fan, apart from maybe Casino Royale, which was actually a great, well crafted movie and it wasn't as silly as the other ones. The completely lost it after that one again, though.

If I had to choose a favorite theme song, I'd probably have to pick Radiohead's "Spectre", even though it never made it into the actual movie. Apparently it was "too dark and depressing". Seriously, why would you ask Radiohead for a song for your movie if you want a happy fun time song? :hihi:

Sorry, can't find a good Youtube link.

More on the macho theme.
When Timothy Dalton was playing James Bond, he was introduced as a much more emotional and sensitive character. It was too much, he became toothless and predictable rather fast.

However, when Daniel Graig took the role, a whole new Bond entered the scene. He is a hardliner, all right, but also a rebel and completely f’d up. He drinks, is suicidal, does not pass any of his agent tests, least of all his psychological evaluation (but is send into the field nevertheless), hacks M’s computer, drinks shots with a scorpion on his hand, and when he cannot hit the target in shooting practise due to shaking hands, he runs to it and attacks it up front instead. There are suggestions he may have had homosexual experiences apart from his hyper hetero orientation, and in Skyfall, we find out that he is an orphan, rised without a mother and father, which explains some of the mess.

Best and most mentally realistic Bond ever, imo

However, the themes are rather mainstrain music like apart from Skyfall with Adele. Made in Shirley Bassey style but Adele does not reach her level, imo:

I thought Skyfall was the best of the Craig movies. Spectre didn't meet my expectations. Liked the opening bit in Mexico city, though.

I also find the Craig movies to be more realistic, in terms of the Bond character. Actually, I was quite sceptic before watching and of them, but, Craig simply does a great job. :) My favorite Bond, right after Sean Connery, and that's a big compliment.

Not quite sure I agree with the homosexual assumptions though. :hihi:

Well, it is a fact

though Graig does not interpret the scene as such (though that is just his opinion)

The writers told that they did not tend to suggest he is bisexual either, but nevertheless they played the homoerotic intimidation card in the movie to make the audience uncomfortable (and that is just their opinion)

I was 11 (1966) and went to the movies to see Thunderball. Tom Jones sang the theme and I was knocked out it was so good.
I came home and begged my dad to let me do some chores so I could have enough money to buy the sound track.

They said on tv recently that the next Bond will be a black dude for the first time :)
