When I was a kid my father took me to see Roy Clark in concert on Long Island.
I did not think I would enjoy it. I was mistaken. The man could play....

Did he do clownery, too, or was it just more serious playing?dnekm wrote: Mon Nov 12, 2018 8:33 pm When I was a kid my father took me to see Roy Clark in concert on Long Island.

He tells in the interview, that started clowning around in his early years as a some kind of defence mechanism. I think he elaborated that an artistry.

He cracked jokes in between playing. It was a long time ago. Late '70's....

Should I believe here to the synchronicity? - a few days ago, I felt need to write this salutation to Roy Clark - now he is passed away.
"Synchronicity (German: Synchronizität) is a concept, first introduced by analytical psychologist Carl Jung, which holds that events are "meaningful coincidences" if they occur with no causal relationship yet seem to be meaningfully related. "

Unknown. You just brought for me with topic a very good memory - that also involved my father who is also deceased. So thank you.
I did not even know Roy Clark was ill. He has been off my radar for a long time. All I can say in his passing is that he was a lot more than most give him credit for. He was gifted.

Glen was a sought after studio musician, hired by the Beach Boys to replace Brian on tour and also was a partner with the Wrecking Crew on Pet Sounds.Bombadil wrote: Sun Nov 11, 2018 2:12 pm When I was young, I dismissed him and Glen Campbell as playing music either for hicks (Hee-Haw) or MOR stuff my parents liked. I had no idea, really, until the internet, that they were both extremely gifted guitarists. I respect Roy's talents, but I doubt I'd ever buy any of his music. Same goes for Glen.
