In this vid I dig into the pitch tracking inside the modulators on MRingModulator. I've been dreaming of a ring modulator that can match the pitch of my guitar and its finally here. This can add an interesting synthetic texture to real instruments. I hope you find this interesting and useful.

Try -10 semitones +57.1 cents. It should get you a nearly perfect fifth (when you use 100% modulation depth as in your video).

And as you said adding a filter would help. I'd try a HP to get rid of the lower sideband.

But who knows, perhaps Voijtech can conjure up a button that disables the lower (or upper) sideband with us having to resort to a filter.

That's what a frequencyshifter does, either only upper or lower sidebands.

For a pure sinewave that's true. For an arbitrary modulator it gets more complex. OTOH if you choose an arbitrary wave form the lower sideband is your least concern if you want to control the havoc :)
