Here are a few things I would like to see in MXXX, hopefully others will add to this list too.....

1. Ability to type in crossover frequency value.

2. edit multiparamiter group info text. I can write info for multiparamiters and active presets, but not for groups, even though there is a question mark in the top corner of the group on the easy screen.

3. I want to be able to use arbitrary values for multiparamiter values. At the moment we can use percents or by first parameter. I wanted to make a musical eq preset where the user could turn the multiparameter to the key of thiere track, like C, F A# etc. But I couldn't see a way to get those values in?

4. Also as above, use value of first parameter is ok but, can we change the order of the parameters? for example if I want to change which parameters value is displayed and its not the first in the list, I cant re order them and have to clear them all and add the one I want first, then add the others second, which is long winded. Or we could maybe be able to select use value from second parameter, etc.

5. If more than one multiparameter is controlling the same parameter, the value can suddenly jump. Maybe we could have some takeover options, like, Takeover, average, jump etc.

6. Could we have a moving line or dot in lfo and envelopes etc, so we can visually see where in the cycle we are.

Also, could we please have an input/output meters for the currently selected FX, this could appear near the bands meters in the main metering section. Thanks.

For 1. You can hold the control key (on PC, not sure on Mac) for fine adjustment. I find it works well for the most part.

I agree with jmg8 about the in/out meters per module, I think I asked for it a while back too. I was gain staging a rather complex patch yesterday and it was a pain in the ass; i had to disable everything and then enable modules one at a time from the beginning to set the gains up nicely. It's not very elegant at the moment.

Ok so:

1. As vectorwarrior said, you can finetune it, it really doesn't matter if it is 101Hz or 100Hz and if it does matter, you should hear it, not "number" it. If you want to do that anyway, you can use a multiparameter for it :D.

2. Yes, but I think most people have troubles writing even the basic descriptions, so I think that's just enough. It can be added, but I don't know, what do you think folks?

3. Impossible sorry. Though about it many times. There are so many possibilities, that it is just not worth the trouble.

4. I know... that sucks a little. The problem is, it's not that simple due to the possibility of automation/modulation of the ranges of first 4 parameters... It's possible, but not easy, so I'm trying to stay away from it assuming people can learn the parameters in the correct order in the first place :D

5. Impossible, sorry, again :). This is a very complex issue really...

6. Well, this one is possible, but there's a catch - drawing the shape takes quite a CPU, so I'm not really sure it is worth the additional CPU consumption really... will check.

7. I'm afraid that's very problematic (you can have popups etc.) and there's no space for it.

As an official MXXX preset designer ... :D ... I don't want yet another area I that feel I need to document. I found that using the main preset information description area was a completely adequate place to put specific instructions about particular MPs. As a preset user, I would like to see this information there as well and not have to go to some other help window for enlightenment.

The new update is great!!! Thanks Vojtech.
You added 3 of my above suggestions, its really nice to see you adding these things, cheers.
I'm loving the naming of banks and using that as display value.

Still want an input and output meter for currently selected FX. Hopefully there is a way to do it.
When it starts getting busy with like 10 FX or more, it becomes really difficult to find out at what stage the clipping is happening.
It could go in the main meters section near bands. Then change depending on which FX is currently selected, this way it wouldn't take up much room. Or another way is when we right click on an FX to get input/output/bypass settings there could be a little meter on there instead, doesn't need to be big, just enough to detect clipping.

Actually there's a pretty simple way to do that, just insert Loudness analyzer FX, that's what it is for ;). Then you can just move it anywhere to find the problem ;). For now I'm afraid the metering just won't happen, performance reasons, feature duplication...

I think that this is what Vojtech was suggesting :):

You can drag the Loudness Analyser module up / down to get it to select a different stage.
NB Set the Input for Loudness Analyser to 1, not 'Default'. And I added the Utility to drop the sound to silence.

Yes!!

I actually thought of just putting it in between the modules, but this is even better ;).

How about a lock on reverbs dry/wet when scrolling presets it's very practicle when reverb is on a send. Also on EQs it would be nice to avoid to pop (right click) the window to change filter type. Key command scroll on filters or determined regions to create filter types ( a la Fabfilter) avoids extra clicks.

That's quite problematic, I'll check about it, but I'm not optimistic.

Wow great tip for gain staging thanks! Darkstar.

This lock feature for the dry/wet of reverbs....
If it is possible somehow with a right click (maybe) to 'LOCK' the parameter into place, this would be a massive feature for all plugins!
Imagine you have loaded up a preset in MWobbler. You love the timing of the modulation but, that's it. You could 'LOCK' it in and then continue to either browse through presets or click randomize. Then you find the perfect filter shape and distortion, now we can 'LOCK' those too and continue until our sound is just right.
This would be a very fast way of getting to the exact sound your looking for with only a few clicks and would be very powerful for people with less of an understanding of the plugins controls.
This feature in in omnisphere 2 and works even better with synths.

I know I know... it's just not easy, think of all the stuff there's already...

i was searching to see if keytracking had already been requested and landed here. im upset about the answer :(
hopefully one day it will become easier to implement.
what are the problems with melda plugs that make keytracking difficult?

Post

What do you mean by that?
