Nektar Impact LX25+ - MIDI signal, but no sound in Waveform 9 with Spicy Guitar VST.

This is a weird one. I am using Waveform 9 and Win 7. Everything seems to work fine with Waveform 9 native VSTs and some third party VSTs such as Renoise Redux, when using my Nektar Impact LX25+, but I can't get any sound out of Spicy Guitar. However, Spicy Guitar VST work fine with my KMI K-Board and an Akai LPK25 MIDI keyboard controller in Waveform 9.

My Nektar Impact LX25+ works fine with Spicy Guitar VST, in other DAWs such as FL Studio and Ableton. Is this a script issue for this particular MIDI controller in Waveform 9, or an issue with Waveform 9 MIDI hardware support? If it is the former, I will of course direct my issue to Nektartech.

On the track with SpicyGuitar, do you see the input meters indicating input MIDI events; and if you record, do you get note events being recorded (even though you can't hear them?) If so, it may be a midi channel setting in SpicyGuitar.

Thanks for the quick reply Peter. That is a yes to both input MIDI events and note events getting recorded. There doesn't appear to be a MIDI channel setting. Here is what things look like:

I had the 32-bit version in an archive and tried it - and had no problems with it. Now, I though there might have been something wrong initially - the volume I found extremely low compared to a lot of other plugins. I had to jack the plugin's volume slider up to full to be able to hear it.

Now, if you happen to hit lower keys, you might have activated "palm mute" or something else that could affect things. It also only responds to a certain range of notes, so if your LX is somehow "transposed" to a higher or lower octave it might have issues ?

I see what you are referring to and have tested it thoroughly with volume adjustment, and careful observation of behavior in connection with octave shift (palm mute and other triggers), yet there is no change for the better. This plugin simply cannot produce a discernible sound - even with the volume cranked all of the way up. This behavior simply does not occur with the other keyboards that I have tested, and I am unfortunately no closer to a solution...

Are there any MIDI controller keyboards with multi-function knobs, faders, drum pads, transport controls, etc. that are confirmed to work with Waveform 9, such as the Akai MPK Mini MK2, Arturia MiniLab MK2, M-Audio Code 25/49, M-Audio Oxygen 25/49/61 MK4 or the Akai MPK 225/249? In general, it would be helpful to have a list of supported / confirmed working MIDI devices.

Have you looked at Midi-Ox ? It's a little tool that monitors the MIDI events being received. It runs outside of Waveform; and you set the input MIDI device and put it into MONITOR Input. From there, you can see exactly what your device is REALLY sending, and possibly compare with another.

Actually, it can to a WHOLE lot more, but that and SYSEX archiving have been my main uses for it.

Thanks for that tip. Nope, never heard of Midi-Ox before. Here is the data for all of the white notes:

The only difference that I can see between the two is that the Nektar Impact LX25+ sends MIDI on channel 16. I knew this already, as every DAW configuration instruction that I have read from Nektartech requires ensuring that the LX+ series keyboards send from channel 16. Actually, there appear to be some other differences (status, data1, data2) between the two controllers that I can see, but I don't know what it means.

One other item noted
The Akai LPK25 sends note off's w/full amplitude (7F) versus the Nektar using (the more common) 00.

For your Nektar Impact LX25+ the Tracktion script (also mentioned in another of your topics) might be useable(?)
http://support.nektartech.com/s.nl/ctyp ... ategory=25
Looks to make it ~ Mackie Control Universal. I'm using that protocol for my Korg Taktile, seems good so far...

Noted in 'Are You Classical?' (Similar? in 'Default')
The VST moves the playable strings according to the incoming midi channel! Top string equals midi channel 7. The playable portion of the keyboard moves up according to the string you're on...
Midi channel 1 seems to allow full fretboard play...

Not seeing action for midi channel 8 and up. (Just first use of 64 bit VST so far...)

EDIT:
You can leave the Nektar set to 16, and force the channel in the Waveform input config

Thanks. Yes, I am using the Nektar Impact LX+ Tracktion / Waveform script. Thanks to your input, I have found that the majority of notes can be found on channels 1 & 2. This seems to work for the plugin presets that I have tried so far.
