Im in the same situation and it seems to have not gotten lower and not many at all carry this plugin

Rapid composer seems more complex and great but too fiddly for my taste and ugly. Im a sucker for nicer guis and workflow and not a 2nd daw....

Maybe the mixedinkey Captin plugins will suit you, simplified compared to RC but still powerful and reasonably priced, some of the Windows versions are still to be released but you'll receive them when they are.

I am also interested in Captain Chords. Do they ever have a sale? I did some research and didn't see anything. Only ADSR and MixedinKey carries them. ADSR has a sale going on but CP is excluded.

I was also keeping an eye on MM3, and also AudioModern Riffer over BF sales.....and hoping for a bargain. Perhaps these are too new for good sale prices just yet? MM3 is on sale at $59 (but not what I'd call a bargain), and Riffer.....no sale at all (as yet).

There's also the iOS version which is much cheaper, and from which you can export midi.

[Edit: I may have been thinking of Audioplugin Deals, which lets you use their "cash back" in their "shop" towards getting recent past sales. They're selling it for as low as $29 with their cash back system... though since I have the iOS app and Orb Composer I'll pass.]

Does getting Echoboy Jr give you the option of later upgrading to Echoboy?... I don't see an upgrade offer anywhere, but perhaps that's only after you register Echoboy Jr?...
