For me Timeless 2 is the one I really wanted.
Agreed, surprised as this was updated recently.

I expected all the other plugins to get version 2 updates before seeing a version 3!

Looks to be a useful update though.. my most used plugin by a large margin.

Really? I can't see an update since last Feb.

I mean from V1 to V2, Volcano or Timeless would have been a preference.

Well, good thing I got that refund from MF for the Softube fiasco as it will help with this!

Anybody got some experience with both TDR Nova GE and Pro-Q2? Just picked up Nova (over Toneboosters EQ4). Thoughts?

Post

I have both, at the moment they don't really overlap since Pro-Q2 can't do dynamic-eq, which is Nova's strength. Using Nova as a regular static EQ is kind of a """waste""" in my opinion,

With Pro-Q3 coming out, they start to overlap and to me it seems like ProQ would be maybe the better and most comprehensive choice overall if budget is not an issue, since it's 2.5x Nova's pricetag.

Nova (GE) is still a great plugin, sound quality is top notch, the newly introduced smart operations are ridiculously effective, and I'm extremely glad to have it; same with all the other TDR paid plugins.

Well and there is still DMG Audio Equilibrium... :-) I'd say, technically, we have enough decent plugins.

Ah ok. That makes sense. What are some examples of bad-sounding EQs plug-ins? Just curious.
for example waves Q(1-10) when fecuency reaches Nyquist limits, cramped filters!
Pretty much all Waves EQs cramp at Nyquist - but hey, so does PSP E27 which is widely acclaimed.

Excited for Pro-Q 3 but LVC TonedMAX just hit the spot, so hmmmm (can wait for a great upgrade price).

By the way, is there a master list of all the new features somewhere? I can't view videos right now.
Did not know that about e27. Do you have a source for that?
I'll capture some screenshots from Plugindoctor tonight for ya :) Don't get me wrong, it's a great EQ from PSP.
Hm. I ran plugin doctor on e27 and I don’t see cramping towards nyquist, per se. I see a high end roll off after 20k, but it’s independent of the curve preceding it. Even psp neon hr has that same roll off above 20k. Pro-q2 has no rolloff whatsoever. I’m thinking it was probably a design choice by psp. Perhaps to save cpu cycles? Not sure. A dev would have to comment.

Post

Yes you are right - "cramping" was the wrong word use from me, sorry. PSP's e27 doesn't warp or cramp as such (like a Waves EQ for instance), it just has a sharp low pass after 20khz at all settings. Likely inauduble, unlike true warping.

Carry on :)

It's not only amplitude that warps, also the phase warps (which translate to delay).

Can someone pls run crave eq through plugin doctor and put some screenshots? Would love to see how it behaves, thank you

Post

Excellent news. Love the Fabfilter stuff, go-to plugins in every project over here.

Previously I had a gut feeling I would have liked it more if Pro-MB gained a "true dynamic EQ mode" and Pro-Q was kept more as a go-to static EQ, so that reaching for a freq specific dynamic processing solution, using the Fabfilter lineup, would still have meant always reaching for one particular plugin that had that special focus -- but that being said, I think this way of going about it makes sense as well, of course.

I realize this doesn't really address your request (and I don't have CraveEQ) but I would advise downloading the demo and trying for yourself.
PluginDoctor is easy to use, very inexpensive and also kind of addictive :o
