Unusual Stuck Note Problem

I have one specific project (haven't had this problem with other projects) where the midi tracks are getting stuck notes. It happens across every synth I use, so it's not one synth. The stuck notes don't stop playing unless I set the loop bar and let it loop once or twice; after, it's fine for one or two plays, and then it starts again. The panic button does nothing. I've tried dummy midi tracks. Worst of all, it stays around when I try to render tracks.

If anybody has any input, that'd be nice. It's miserable and the project is unusable until I figure out what's wrong.

If you were using a loop with long notes and things got confused with MIDI Note On messages being sent but on Note Off messages being sent to cancel them, I could understand it. However, if there are no loops, it gets more difficult to understand.

If you wish, you can email the .tracktionedit file to me and I'll take a look at the code within it and see if I can spot anything wrong. Let me know if that's okay with you, and I'll PM you my email address. Seems a pity to lose a whole project for something like that.

Like I said, I've never had anything remotely similar to this. I've managed to find something of a workaround. If I click to put the transport in random places around the track, eventually it stops. It starts again on different synths but it's manageable.

I really appreciate the help. I think I can handle it, as long as bouncing to audio isn't bugged. This is the only project I've had this issue on.

Glad to hear you have a workaround. Let me know if you change your mind.

My workaround was not that. It sticks around even when bouncing files, so I can't do anything about it. I have a version of the project condensed to the affected tracks if you still want to take a look.

I guess I have the same issue. Whenever I have long sustained MIDI notes in a clip and stop playback while the notes are still being played back, the notes hang and continue to sound infinitely. In my current project I only use the built-in FM Synth, so it's not a VST issue. This is a super annoying bug. My current workaround is open FM Synth and swipe with the mouse one time across the complete GUI keyboard from low to high. This makes the notes unstuck. But as I say, this is just super annoying.

Could you have a look TSC folks? :)

I guess the fact it's happening can be annoying, but the "panic" button (yellow triangle with ! beside the rewind button) is supposed to silence all midi notes. Does that work ?

No, unfortunately it has no effect.

You're not using a hardware input, are you?

I'm intrigued by two things: it happens to every VST you try it on (so it's not a VST issue), and the MIDI panic button doesn't work.

I can envision a scenario in which there's a physical key or trigger on a hardware controller or synth that's sticking.

If that's the case, it would explain what you're experiencing--provided it's the same note every time. Is it? Or is it a different note?
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

Yes, I'm getting the same problem, a stuck midi note when using collective and midi chords. It won't stop playing and is getting annoying. Also have a problem with waveforms not always drawing and some weird behaviour when soloing tracks. The volume will be normal for about a couple of seconds then it drops off or I'll get a ping pong effect on the soloed track. This is with beta 9.3.6

No hardware input involved, neither midi nor audio.

I don’t know if it happens to every VSTi, I face this problem in my current project where there is only the built-in FM Synth involved.

It happens to all sustained notes, no matter which exact one.

Thank you, so we’re in the same boat. To be honest for me this is an absolute show stopper. Please can you fix it dear Tracktion people?

I'm not getting stuck midi notes any time a note is snapped to the first note of the grid. Tracktion always says that stuck notes are the synths not reading the note off message, but at the same time I never have these problems in other DAWs.
