Getting a brain massage, of course!
They can be used on anything, just to enhance the source. It doesn't have to be an obvious 'whoosh', or a 'gurgle'.
My suggestion: BYOME. Hey, it's a modulated phaser! Go crazy with the followers! And the LFOs! And the sequencers! And the routing... ooops, not there yet but maybe soon!

They go great on synth string pads too!

I used Phasis to give some extra illusion of space (a little like a chorus, more subtle) and add some complexity to the impression of some sampled string section material, more or less pads.

I think it's seeing a bit pf a revival, like. many other things that have had their heyday, but seem to be coming back again.

70's was full of that.
One tasty example of a great Finnish band, guitarist Pekka Rechard.

100% agreed. It stands out. I actually think I have tried all VST Phasers around (including UAD's) during my years. The envelope follower is the best in any plugin I tried actually (becuase of the way you can control how the input signal is going to affect the phaser).bitman wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 8:44 pm Stunning Phaser

I got some analog hardware phasers also which I love, but Stunning Phaser easier to handle and automate so it's the only phaser I need.
Stunning Phaser sounds incredible, has the by far best envelope follower around and highly controllable. The build-in LFO is awesome with some unusual envelopes. I usually automate the Phaser manually though. Only downside is that it might take more CPU than the rest (not a problem though even though I have a 5 year old i7).
if anyone is looking for a really good souding Phaser, try the demo!!

The A/DA Flanger plug-in is an exacting emulation of this iconic unit...

Wrong thread? This one is about phasers...
"Preamps have literally one job: when you turn up the gain, it gets louder." Jamcat, talking about presmp-emulation plugins.

Some of my favorite phaser sounds are on Metamatic. And a highlight of that is the ending of Touch and Go (from about 4mins):

I believe he used an MXR Phase 90 on this which is hard to find as a plugin. There's lots of very deep phasing yet no resonant peaks.
