Click back a page or two. I just asked the same question today. :)

Keep an eye out at the end of the year. If I remember right they usually do a 50% off all products sale sometime around New Years or Christmas.

Yes, I've seen it before.

Here's an email I received from them last December (December 18,2017):

"Holiday Sale in your account

We've just started a Holiday Sale in the FabFilter user accounts. Until January 1, the Personal Upgrade Offer in your FabFilter account offers you 25% discount or more on any additional plug-ins. So whether you would like to buy a single plug-in or complete your entire FabFilter collection: this is the time!"

At the time, I upgraded my FabFilter Pro-L to version 2 at 25% off the regular upgrade price.

What happened last year is no guarantee that it will happen again, but there's certainly a precedence.

I did the same thing with Fabfilter last year. I will wait for that extra break as I don't need the new features...yet, heh.

It'll come round again, was $66 in September
I wouldn't bet on it. I think the Strobe upgrade was on sale twice in about 2-3 years, so it could be a while before another Cypher upgrade sale.

I don't know what they're thinking. These plugins are for buyin' and sellin' not for recordin'.

I’d love to know how they’re doing. My gut feel, and I’d love to be proven wrong, is they’re the most precarious of the large developers.

I received some vouchers.

The cheap resale prices are almost as bad as warez, the resale of the same licence multiple times is something we'll never see on the surface but is something they're clearly aware of.

I wonder what the highest number of resales is?

Mine is that accolade belongs to Waves. They probably have higher fixed costs but in order to try to keep the plates spinning have got to the point where you can almost buy a big bundle for less than the cost of WUPing it. That in turn further puts off off their large installed base: the one that has been paying the high-margin maintenance charge on a fairly regular basis. Maybe knocking out $29 instruments to hobbyists outweighs the stream of WUP on Mercury installations but at some point they are going to have to make a decision to go completely one way or the other. Because their larger hobbyist base is even less impressed with WUP than their traditional base.

PA has probably overcooked the deep-discount sale thing from a sustainable-business perspective but it's more of a franchise operation, so lower fixed costs. They do the storefront and testing and some of their own stuff, but other devs take on the R&D cost. If those suppliers get fed up they can walk (probably) but it seems to be holding together at the moment.
