I just discovered the video on the tonal/transient crossover function that's in (I think) all of the Melda multi-band plugins. It splits in audio source into transients, and the tonal parts of the signal. This seems like a very cool, and overlooked feature. So, I thought I would post the video for anyone who's interested:

Thanks! Along these lines, Chandler posted the following on the Cakewalk forum recently, which I copied to a text file so I could explore the possibilities later.
Something that isn’t often advertised with the multiband plugins is the fact that there are multiple Multiband modes. They have frequency splits(linear and minimum phase), disabled(parralell processing), left-right, mid-side and a few unique modes.

Level - allows you to control the splits using an envelope, LFO or input volume.

Tonal/transient - lets you process the transient separately from the tonal elements.

Spectral - lets you process the loud parts separately from the soft.

These can be very useful sometimes.
Great stuff!

I honestly had no idea - Thought *everything* in the M series of the plugins was just frequency crossover. That's incredible :o

I use the other crossover kinds more than the frequency type. For example, I often use the Spectral crossover in MLimiterMB to enhance the smaller spectrum details, by making the softer components of the spectrum louder. The overall feeling of sharpness and focus is greatly increased in this way.

Yeah, these amazing things have been added quite recently and you know me, I wouldn't make just another plugin for that, despite keeping backwards compatibility is a madhouse now :D. Anyways check the whole video series:
