Beautiful looking plug.
Great sounding too! I already have a few spring reverbs so I was interested to see how similar it would be. Definitely has that special something.

exactly my complaint with this and Colour Copy. not enough grit.
Colour Copy has grown on me, my initial thoughts of Twangstrom are that it makes a good 'room' sound, a bit of character. but it's so tame, even with the onboard saturation, there's a certain something about my hardware spring reverbs that Twangstrom just doesn't have. Like Colour Copy and its supposed connection to bucket brigade... where's the grit? the corners have all been filed off. This is my main complaint with pretty much all the u-he plugins.

that said, it still sounds better than 90% of other spring reverb plugins.

maybe it'll grow on me.

But U-HE you know what? I find that you're latest plugins are too much restricted to the sweet sounding area, edgy sounds are difficult to do. . I like the idea to give only controls were you can create useful or good sounding things, but 5% more dirty sound possibility would be great. A bit more resonance and drive or dirt options for example. It's the same for ColorCopy by the way.

Yeah. Especially at the intro price, it's kind of a no brainer. I'm not as seasoned or privileged as many on here, with no actual hardware spring reverbs to compare it to, and no particular attachment to the idea of a spring reverb, but i just love how easy it is to get weird with this thing. Crazy modulation system. It's gonna make a 'trippy/surreal' vibe a breeze to manufacture.

Totally agree, that's how I feel about CCopy too and just can't relate to all the gushing fanboys. Decent sound but way too safe.

After reading many of the comments, I was really worried that Twangstrom would suffer the same "weakness" that ColourCopy had, but I'm sorry guys... I'm not on board.

For those complaining about the lack of "grit" have you all noticed the Soft Clip button under the Output? Just enable that and turn it up to add a punishing effect.

Well f*cking done. Yes an expletive was necessary. Well f*cking done.

I was (and still am) one of ColourCopy's biggest critics. I'm still not on board and I won't be until maybe version 2, depending what's done, but this is nice.

I do think Twangstrom cuts off way too much of the high frequencies even with HP at max. It'd be great if we had more freedom over the high frequencies.

Please consider allowing higher frequencies to pass through, but otherwise plenty-o-grit.

I wasn't trying to score points, I just thought it was a unique thing to complain about. It's the whole analog conundrum again. Engineers fought for ages to remove all the edges and distortion and discrepancies and breaking points from things, and now people are carefully recreating them again.

it's just sort of picturesque.


EDIT: anyway u-he are very careful engineers and they do a lot of work to get things sounding right under as many circumstances as possible. it's to their credit. the only thing that people are unhappy with is that they did not allow more of the old ""problems"" into their work that people have since come to treasure for their uniqueness and unpredictability.

I'm not saying they're wrong—i appreciate grime and sonic grit, too—I just thought it was pleasing that one can generally trust them to get the foundation close to exactly right.

Its not about old problems, it’s about people wanting options. As much as I disagree about there not being enough grit, this is not “exactly” right for everyone and it’s important to let people have an opinion without someone jumping to u-he’s defense and twisting their comments and yes... spinning. Grit or saturation is just that and it is very important to many of us.

A beta period is exactly the place and time to voice criticisms. If it were perfect, there would be no beta and no bug fixes or changes. If they can make this more versatile without doing away with what you love about, then that only makes the product even better.

Anyway, again, my only complaint is the 5K drop off. I’d love to let in the harshness when warranted and dial back as needed.

I'd love to hear some audio examples of what gritty enough sounds like.

Twangstrom does not sound tame to me.

Do you think the high-end is there? Like if you EQ shelf boost at 5K do you get the harshness you want?
