Zebra has always been my weapon of choice. I love it so much. But I was curious about Serum and why everyone seems to be attracted by it. I know that both synths don't do exactly the same things, but recently I've downloaded a folder with Serum OSCs for Zebra. And I couldn't resist to compare the 2 after downloading Serum's demo.
What I found out is that on some basic OSCs, SERUM sounds a brighter than Zebra. But by toying a little bit with the "Brillance" OSC effect in Zebra, I came up with sounds that were very very close.
I just wanted to share that piece of info because it convinced me that with Zebra you can literally come close to a lot of other synth tones out there.
Please let me know if you ever had a chance to compare for yourselves!

Serum has up to 2048 overtones. Zebra has that too, but by default only in the Geo/SpectroMorph modes. Unfortunately, many people prefer the quick drawing in the -Blend modes, which require OscFX to reach the full spectrum.
Additionally, Zebra's "smooth" render option in the Oscs may be a bit too much on the pleasant side. Setting it to "crisp" gets one up there too.

Amazing, thank you so much for the extra details Urs. I will experiment a bit more in the "crisp" mode now that I know.
Im hearing what you said about the "smooth" render option, however I also feel like this is the strong point of Zebra, yall went left with a smooth sound at a time when all these synth vst companies were trying to go super aggressive. You definitely owned that niche from a business stand point. Bravo!

Where did you find those oscillator templates? I have a really nice library going, but nothing like that in it! I tried using some of the conversion tools and ffmpeg in order to convert them myself, but I wasn't successful.
