Zebra - Rapid phase modulation

As a newbie, I'm not sure if the pitch alteration resulting of a rapid phase modulation is a Zebra thing (the few other synths I have doesn't have this behavior).
For example, on a simple sawtooth oscillator, I modulate its phase with a depth of 100% by a LFO sets to 0.1s speed, maximum rate and 0-20 % of amplitude. As a result, 2 new partials surrounds each main ones.
I like this kind of distortion effect and I would like to know if it exists a more tamable way to do it.
Thanks !

It's not a Zebra "only" thing ..what you 're describing there is basically FM synthesis. Instead of finding work-arounds to tame it (like for example, kb track modulating the LFO speed) ... enjoy it as it is or simply use FM oscs

I'll try to fine tuning this thing with kb track as you mentionned (the goal is to make a large playable frequency range) and take a look with the FMO also (trying to find a way to have a sawtooth as a destination) !
Thanks 3ee !

Yes, use FMO instead. Personally, I always (since 1987!) found non-sine/cosine carriers uninteresting. There's so much more mileage in complex modulators.

Chowning/Yamaha just filed the patent.Howard wrote: Wed Dec 19, 2018 8:25 am Yes, use FMO instead. Personally, I always (since 1987!) found non-sine/cosine carriers uninteresting. There's so much more mileage in complex modulators.
Most people wouldn't know good music if it bit them in the ass. –FZ

I also like to think that!
