I've been on a sound design & synth demoing binge the last couple of weeks and Europa is on my shortlist of synths that would bring new sounds that my existing synths don't cover.
depends what you are looking for really, and what kind of music you make!?
Its probably the most interesting synth out there. Purely in terms of the synth engine. Its really quite increible what you can do with this thing. The workflow is extemely focused. Not loads of stuff you dont need, but everything you do need. It sounds increible too.
I would say just get it. It really is a fantastic synth.
Its also really quick to work on. the envelopes are great. Sound designers dream.
For me coming from synths like falcon, its a really simple layout - which makes for fast work. but again, its the actual synth engine that is super powerful - as opposed to having millions of layers of simple VA synth.
Cheers
My thoughts exactly. My only hope is it gets updated regularly.

Anybody got views about Europa vs Arturia's new wavetable synth Pigments?

Just starting to demo Europa, I've noticed that it seems to suck appreciably less CPU juice compared to Pigments.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

I've demoed Europa a bit more and I really like its logical and easy-to-work-with layout. It positively invites your grubby fingers to get to work. I've uninstalled the Pigments demo – too fiddly for my simple tastes. ;-)

I'm going to give Santa a hint about Propellerheads…

I enjoyed demoing Europa, would certainly take a punt if it wasn't an NFR black hole.

Post

So ... its NFR? TBH I think the red on black and grey GUI is pretty hideous. Haven't tried the demo tho' to be fair.

Post

In practice, yeah, it's kinda NFR, as in Rack Extensions licenses can't be transferred/sold to other users/accounts.

You buy it, you own it for life.

...unless that changes in the future.

Post

Thanx. I thought they might have a different policy for their VSTs.

Post

Did grab finally it tohether with Reason upgrade, really there is something special in his sound, i even do not know, despite to his not so special structure. I even tried disable all fx and filters in his some patches, but anyway, hmm.. Very good thing.

Post

Generally speaking, I think Props are well aware, perhaps even acutely aware...

that the #1 thing they need to attend to, is this whole f**k*n GUI issue!

Waddaya guys say? :hihi: It covers everything...all the complaints, the crap-ola...

uh... the VST version, hmmm... well, can't see a "Transfer License" option on that one either, so... yeah, I guess the same NFR'ish policy applies to Europa VST.

Not me - I think it looks fantastic. It's also great on the eyes in low-light studios (as reds tend to be easier on the pupils). But everyone's taste is different, so.. * shrugs *

In relation to Europa? I get some people don't like the colour but as a GUI it's pretty good.

It's mainly the bottom half that I have issues with. Red lettering on a black background is very hard to look at for any length of time for me. YMMV

The whole program...the holistic experience of using Reason. The rack, sequencer, everything, baby.

Holistic! but I said that already. :hihi: 8) :hihi: 8)

Yeah, that might be an acquired taste. I'm an amateur astronomy buff so I'm used to looking at red text on black/dark backgrounds.
