yes, Gotta admit I grouped my plugins into folders the other day and was listening to the different reverbs, delays, saturators I have and Got admit I was blown away with the how similar sounding stuff was. Obviously there was some subtle differences but not so much that would make so much difference to the quality of the final track.Gribs wrote: Sun Dec 23, 2018 4:04 pm Does anyone else feel a sort of lack of excitement over buying anything new? To me the most exciting things to come around this holiday season are the 1.2 update to the firmware for my Novation Peak and (coincidentally have the same version number) the 1.2 update to Hive. Both of those are free!
Now, I have made a decision that I would only get something new if it offered some significant addition to what I have already, regardless of how good the 'offer' is.
I've known this all along but buying plugins is a way to procrastinate when the creative juices aren't flowing so I look for strategies to help me with that side of the process these days and fallen in love with sequencers all over again.

IMO it‘s the other way round:
When you‘re hunting bargains there‘s no room left for being creative.
My conclusion so far: no attention anymore for all these new, shiny, cheap, hilarious, fairy dust offerings until next Black Friday.
Last year I‘ve chosen the same strategy and the first nine months after that decision were one of my most productive periods ever.

FYI. I just bought the new Satson Channel Strip from Sonimus. This thing is incredible and sounds just wonderful. I had StonEQ4k and Satson before, so the price for the strip went down to $39 (from $69 which is already a pretty damn good price). You only have to email them. ...And it's a modular strip! What I get from this plugin beats by much other big name strips that get a lot of attention lately (I won't name names) that sell in the 3 digit area.
Sonimus has won me over completely.

I'd really like to try it, too, but without a demo there won't be a purchase.escalona wrote: Sun Dec 23, 2018 11:05 pm FYI. I just bought the new Satson Channel Strip from Sonimus. I’m finding that it’s more important to stick with plugins with interfaces that gel with me so I can dive into them and get creative juices flowing that way. I think you’re right that the advertised “best-sounding xyz” is always relative and depends more on the application.Gribs wrote: Sun Dec 23, 2018 4:04 pm Does anyone else feel a sort of lack of excitement over buying anything new? Thankfully, the FS forums here have allowed me to experiment with, and later flip, things that I didn’t like with net 0 or relatively minimal lost money.

I tend to work on projects for months and in some cases years (I'm slow). So being able to retain all parts of the project is important to me. With this in mind, I only keep a certain selection of plugins at my disposal that I maintain.
Instead of loading up the hard drive with hundreds of freebies and on sale vsts... that is just too much to maintain (and backup) in the long run.
Plus when I stopped really trying to make synths and plugins a hobby and started caring more about the music, I got more out of it anyways. I actually have something to show for my time, versus some nice feelings noodling on the keyboard or the like otherwise that I've long forgotten about anyways.
But I know some people work differently..

You could demo the StonEQ4k and get at least some of an idea ...dermage wrote: Sun Dec 23, 2018 11:46 pmI'd really like to try it, too, but without a demo there won't be a purchase.escalona wrote: Sun Dec 23, 2018 11:05 pm FYI. Does the 15% Christmas discount work on the Satson CS? Fine print says a refund is issued after purchase, so just wanted to check.escalona wrote: Sun Dec 23, 2018 11:05 pm FYI. Also, does the company that's not to be named start with a W?

Would think, it‘s actually a P and the second word starts with an A...Tappistry wrote: Mon Dec 24, 2018 8:44 amDoes the 15% Christmas discount work on the Satson CS? Be aware that you have to install some sort of download manager before you can get the samples, you don't get a simple download link once you've 'purchased' it.commodore wrote: Mon Dec 24, 2018 1:36 pm Stumbled across this freebie.
