MDrummer gate mode for triggering patterns.

Is there a way to stop Mdrummer playing the entire pattern and looping, like a gate mode ?

Yes, all keys above C3

Thanks but no triggering of patterns happening here.

Not quite, the pattern still plays all the way.
I was looking for simple gate mode where you release a key and the pattern stops.
Also this is like some kind of toggle mode ?

believe that is for 'immediate stop' action
place a point of 'close gate'(?)

OK, I think I found it.
The rhythm editor shows you which keys are used to trigger different patterns (sorry if I'm using the wrong terms).
I placed a note on my piano roll (E2 in FL Piano Roll) to begin a pattern and looped it for 4 bars. At bar 3 1/2 I placed a note (C#7 in FL) and then pressed play in FL.
The beat begins with an intro roll and then syncs to the grid until the second note is reached. The beat/ pattern completely stops until it loops back around to the first note again.
I found this by pressing play in MDrummer's rhythm editor and trying out the notes that were not highlighted (being used as triggers).

cheers werzel that helps a bit, but I found an issue where an extra beat is added so have emailed over a screen recording to Melda.

I've started recently to experiment with the insertion of 'stops' (for instance C4) combined with a drum instrument played in the same MIDI test clip but with a note that's on MIDI channel 10 instead. That makes MDrummer briefly stop (until the test clip loops back) and play a drum instrument or two at the same time. Like a kick and a cymbal crash.

There really could be a more straight forward triggering mode here.
Simple note on/off starting from lower octaves and up to the playing range.

There isn't a toggle mode, but as someone else said you can insert midi command(high notes on a keyboard) to stop the pattern at any time. If you want to have something stop and then start again without restarting the pattern you're better off automating the volume.

Sure, very messy and not actually working correct here and reported.
Still could be so much more simple.

I've asked somethign similar earlier this year: being able to play fills from a MIDI keyboard, eg. one and just one fill when a key is pressed. No going back to a pattern after playing the fill, just the fill and that's it. I still think it would be a great addition to MDrummer being played as an instrument.
In a related topic I also asked if it was possible to play an empty pattern without having MDrummer switch automatically to a pattern that contains something. It's not possible. The idea is to play an empty pattern and slowly adding/removing percussion instruments here and there as the pattern is played in sync with the rest of the piece. To create drum patterns in real time, to try variations in real time. It can be done if one leaves one instrument in the pattern. As long as there's one instrument MDrummer will not switch to another pattern. But sometimes it can be useful to just play an empty pattern and then start to add.
Cheers.

What you want is a straight forward way to play patterns, press a key and hold it and the pattern plays, take your finger off and it stops.
A very reasonable and fundamental option/request.

Would even be more practical to have an option that follows MDrummer's timing algorithms while being a trigger. Press a key, and the fill/pattern will play starting on the next bar. Release immediately the key since it's only a trigger and it will stop playing by itself. Want it several times, then just put many MIDI notes at the right locations in a bar.topaz wrote: Sun Dec 30, 2018 6:02 pm What you want is a straight forward way to play patterns, press a key and hold it and the pattern plays, take your finger off and it stops. The approach you describe is the one use for instance by Sample Tank 3 for playing loops. If one is using MIDI loops then the first time the note is seen it starts the drum loop, then at the next iteration a couple of seconds later the loop will stop while the rest of the Scene (in the case of Bitwig) continues to loop with all the other instruments. Then at the next pass it will start to play again. So on so forth.

Most drum samplers and sequencers have this simple note on off pattern triggering. A mode that would be most welcomed in MDrummer.
