A sampler module, preferably with additional 8 and 12 bit modes. 2 would be nice, 4 would be fantastic.
Oh, and if the Osc FX could be snuck in ..
I know granular is fashionable right now, and people gonna ask for it, but i wouldnt need that.
Thats all already in there if you know your way around. But no sampler! Hence the suggestion.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Jan 02, 2019 9:37 pm My hope would be Zebra 3 includes a few specialized generator modules like: an analog osc bank (with drift and slop), wavetable, FM, maybe a sampler module, maybe a grain module (if Urs can make grain not sound crappy). Having a few options like that would make Z3 feel more like Eurorack IMO where you can mix and match different OSC types.
Wouldn't expect anything like new Oscs before Zebra 3 though.
Zebra has a grain module? I don' think so..Coorec wrote: Wed Jan 02, 2019 9:43 pmThats all already in there if you know your way around. But no sampler! Precondition for a grain synth is what? Exactly, a sampler or at least sample player! Hence the suggestion.V0RT3X wrote: Wed Jan 02, 2019 9:49 pm Zebra has a grain module? I don' think so..
Also doubt Urs would put an Analog OSC module in because that would prevent people from buying Diva or Repro. That said, you can still get very convincing analog style sounds out of Zebra by programming what's already there.
Even though Zebra already does it's own form of WT synthesis, Importable Wavetable banks are going to be implemented from what I've read around the forums. I think Urs is planning on putting the Hive WT module into Zebra3.
2019 kicking off strongUrs wrote: Thu Jan 03, 2019 7:11 am Samples kill synths. Synths with sample playback become samplers. Everything that makes Zebra great will be gone once we add sample playback. It'll become the same old same old static kind of thing for which you only buy sample packs.
Furthermore, a synthesizer with sample playback is expected to come with an extensive library. This raises the intial cost of the software by factor 2. Zebra with sample playback will cost more than 400€.
There are already very good alternatives to that in Omnisphere, Kontakt and Nexus.
I'm a synth guy. Sample playback bores me to death, it would be my intellectual suicide.
