Midi data not getting recorded when Seaboard is in single channel mode?

I set the Seaboard Block to single channel mode, but now midi data isn't getting recorded---instead vertical lines show up in track view, and clicking on the clip shows nothing in the midi editor. In Waveform I tried setting the Seaboard Block to Channel 1 and also filtering out all channels except 1, but I haven't been able to find anything that works... is there a parameter I can change somewhere to set Waveform to treat it as an ordinary single channel midi controller?

After trying many different things... none of them worked, but now Waveform 9 has stopped working with the Seaboard Block in MPE mode---the keyboard displayed at the bottom of the screen lights up, but no sound gets produced and no midi data is being recorded. I'm going to uninstall and reinstall Waveform and hope that fixes it....

WTF uninstalling and reinstalling Waveform didn't help, now I can't use the Seaboard at all. It works fine in Bitwig and other programs....

I got MPE to work again---I had turned the channels off while trying to make it single channel. (Still, it's bizarre and highly non-desirable that there's no obvious way to reset everything to default, even by uninstalling. The reset all audio devices to default didn't reset this.)

But now I'm back to my original issue. I noticed that midi clips are recorded as MPE by default, but switching them to single-channel afterwards still yields no midi. Also tried recording a midi clip, setting it to single-channel, then recording midi into the clip, but that just got the same result.

If a Seaboard is connected we automatically enforce MPE mode as this was causing a lot of confusion early on by people recording a MIDI clip from a Seaboard in non-MPE mode and then of course the clip would be empty as in MPE, MIDI channel 1 is reserved for "Global" messages, of which usually there aren't any.

The problem is there is no way to know if a MIDI device is in MPE mode or not. MIDI CI may change this but it's not fully formed or in Waveform yet.

There is however a workaround, if you create a "Virtual MIDI Device" in the "MIDI Devices" settings panel and set the Seaboard to be the input to that, you can disable the "Record MPE to Note Automation" property which will then create single-channel recordings from this virtual input.
