I'd like to use Waveform as a VST synth host with 3 or 4 synths set up so that I can change which one I'm playing on the fly.
If I assign each synth to its own track track and set the track's MIDI input to my NI Kontrol S49 mk1, can I change which track receives its input using the S49 or do I have to do that by clicking on the track and selecting the S49 as the input.
In other words I'm trying to set up Waveform as a multitimbral synth where I can switch between sounds with the press of a button.

You can set up multiple virtual midi interfaces; and then have them all play at once. Then you solo which track you want - remember there is 2 "solo" modes, so you want the exclusive mode, so solo-ing one track undoes the previous solo.
(There may be a better way - in Waveform there are normally several ways to achieve the same goal... B-)
Does the NI have a "quick" way of selecting the MIDI channel you send on? You can also use that, and just have Waveform filter all but the one midi channel, so if you send on ch 1, it plays synth one, 2 plays the second, etc...
