Hej,

we think we've finished finalizing Twangström, and our plan is to officially release it tomorrow. But we'd like to be real sure, so we need your fast help here. Please grab one of these installers and put that thing through its paces:

Mac:
https://uhedownloads-heckmannaudiogmb.n ... 89_Mac.zip

Windows:
https://uhedownloads-heckmannaudiogmb.n ... 89_Win.zip

Linux:
https://uhedownloads-heckmannaudiogmb.n ... nux.tar.xz

Changes:
- 'Bright' mode for the spring tank implemented (downsamples to 22/24kHz instead of 11/12kHz thus preserving more treble)
- Reduced the CPU consumption by around 40%
- Finalized the additional content & updated the manual

Quick Addendum:

- this is revision 8189 (if you're unsure what you got, check this number in the UI)
- the beta serial does not work in this version anymore (it isn't a beta...)
- some time tomorrow (around noon CET), if all goes well, the price will flip from 49€ to 69€

Until we release Twangy as a proper product on our website, you can purchase it from this link:

just as a point of interest as i get this thing started: for some reason i expected to see the less-downsampled mode as a "HQ" button in the top-right, like with colour copy (and, to a lesser extent, the repros). but i suppose, ultimately, it makes sense because it's not the exact same function after all

EDIT: now this is interesting.

if you open up twangstrom and, on its default settings, feed it a 466.7hz sinewave (the .7hz actually makes a difference, believe it or not), and just set 'mix' to 100 just so you can hear the pure result of the spring. It's QUITE loud, right, but the moment you turn 'bright' on, it becomes way way quieter. Turn bright off, and the volume leaps back up again.

This probably isn't a bug, I'm guessing, just some result of the tank operating at a lower over-all frequency. Some resonance or other has a chance to build up, right?

The bright switch only affects the tank part, so it's no global setting. Also, we named it 'bright' because it greatly affects the sonic texture. Both modes have their 'quality', so there's no 'high' or 'low' in here. It's not that we encourage users to flip it on during rendering, it's rather a tonal preference based on the audio you feed it with, and the sound you're after.

I can't imagine ever switching "Bright" mode off.

Thank you so much! Just what the cyber dub doctor ordered.

Always a good idea to uninstall then reinstall.

This thing is really lifted by the bright mode. It looks and sounds superb.

the gamma setting doesn't work - brightness stays constant...
edit
the gamma changes after closing/opening the plugin.
I've checked my other u-he plugs and synths and some change immediately and some need to be reopend.
