Does this mean that the only synth there can be is MPowerSynth ?

And does it have to be created expressly for the contest or is it possible to use anything that was created earlier (with Melda plugins and other synths) ?

From the rules:

You can use any host you want, but you can use only MeldaProduction plugins. Any other plugins are not allowed, even those your host includes. You can use gain and panorama in your DAW of course, but that's about it, anything more complex needs to be from us.

Frome the rules:

Acoustic drums and percussion only.

If you may resample MDrummer sounds I don't know. It's hard to proof unless you squeeze the intermediate steps (original sound, chopped up sound, further processed sound, etc) into the project file. In another contest folks did amazing stuff with only a couple of supplied samples.

[W]e are going to make audio demoes for the new gigantic Studio 2018 pack for MDrummer.

So I think you won't win if you bury and mangle the drums beyound recognition.

You need to use MDrummer for drums. The rest is up to you, but if plugins, then Melda plugins . But you can record anything...

Let's simplify by a use case.

Audio processing and all drums/percussion: Melda

Synths: does not matter (eg. u-he, Tone2, Image Line, pianoteq, etc...)

Audio: does not matter (acoustic/electric guitar, basses, vox, pre-recorded sound effects)

OK ?

Or is this exclusively only for MDrummer + MPowerSynth + external audio + Melda audio processing ?

I have a question: Is it O.K to import midi patterns and chords into the project, and run the midi through MPowersynth? I have some midi chords that I want to use. I'm not great on music theory, but if this is not allowed, I guess I could print out my favorite chords on paper, and then manually paint them into an MPowersynth instrument track. That would be time-consuming, though!
But I will accept whatever the answer is. Glad to see the contests return! Let's hope work & other stuff doesn't eat all my time!

And yes, I was really busy last year, but the contests always were fun, so hopefully it will be fun again!
